Talk about a board with its high's and low's

I remember about a month or so ago a thread about the possibility of us losing Fred down the road to the NBA due to success here in Ames.

Tonight, I'm reading posts about whether he's on the hot seat and whether or not he should've ever taken this job.

    Man people, get a grip.

Things are bad now, but they're probably not quite as bad as they seem. And obviously the opposite holds true, things aren't always as good as they seem either.

One poster so far was stupid enough to raise the seat question.

People think he is on the hot seat? That is frickin stupid. He is doing a great job with what he has.

Fred gets at least as many years as McDermott had.

One win away from the MOST wins McD had with...

    HALF the team
FOUR freshman in the top 8 on team
TWO football players on team, just to practice with

and ZERO years of head coaching experience.

I think we can wait awhile to pass judgment. We will get 2-3 more conference wins yet.

Re: Talk about a board with its high's and low's

Common sense cannot prevail on a message board! I have been doing my best to keep an even keel - things are never as good nor as bad as they might seem. Having 7 players limits you, and when you suspend one of them that has been playing well, you just hurt yourself. This season was known to be a lost one - anything we got out of it was a bonus. I'll be interested to see how the team responds to this beating.

Re: Talk about a board with its high's and low's

Being a fan was more fun without message boards, but yet I can't stay away. Talk about stupid.

I said when Hoiberg started talking about how he wanted to play fast (and you all acted like that was all you have ever wanted) that that style of play would mean that we would get blown out more than we did under McDermott. And hell, we've only been blown out twice. We've lost to 3 teams that I think we are more talented than (Cal, TT, and Oklahoma).

I wish everyone that is going to freak out (and therefore freak ME out) would just take the next month off and not get worked up.

Fred's our coach. He's done some things that make a person think he'll be successful. He's made some mistakes. Our last coach was McDermott who did some things that made you think he'd be successful. He made some mistakes. It's not a shock that Hoiberg's first year sucks.

This board has shown is growing supidity, and is very bipolar. If only there was medicine for bipolarity on message boards.

It sucks to lose, yet we are still only 1 win away from the same win total. With a few games we shoulda coulda...Give him some time to get his players and himself some experience. We've already passed some people's predictions in the pre-season.
