Sounds like there are a few right behind him. Take it for what it is worth.

Jason is number one right now because of his experience. “If I had to make a decision today, Jason would be our starter in part because of his experience,”. Chizik said. “But I don’t have to make that decision today.” Look at the latest practice report under the notes and look at JJ's stats from tonight’s scrimmage.

    - RB J.J. Bass carried the ball five times for 45 yards and caught one pass for 20 yards before scoring a TD on a tough five-yard run.
    - On the FIRST TEAM offense’s third possession, Bass scored his second TD of the scrimmage on a 28-yard run.

Has Jason Scales been mentioned at all in any of the notes at cyclones.com?? The RB spot is one of the least of my worries on this team.

That's a bad job outta you...

We have not seen Scales healthy once. If he stays healthy, it will be nice to have 2 capable backs for the first time....well... ever.

Yeah, Bass and Robinson. Scales is brittle and slow, not a good combo.

    Re: Scales on Top

I read as much into the practice reports as I do anything coming out of Vick's mouth these days.

Seriously folks, those reports are only a small snippet of what's happening up there. Plus, we have no idea what defensive unit those yards are coming from, etc.

I'm happy for Scales - regardless if he starts or comes in 2nd. He's had a very tough road and clearly hasn't given up. Our football team really could use (if not need) a healthy and effective Scales to be successful this year.

Coach wants to run the ball, run the ball and...run it some more. One guy won't be able to shoulder that load.

We need a guy that cannot be arm tackled. That is why I think he will be 4th when it is all said and done.

    HUH?

I guess you never saw him play at Valley. Anything I've seen to date of him at ISU is moot, he's never been healthy. Finally, he is.

I seem to remember Darren and Ennis being a good combo. Agreed that this is just practice.....who really knows anything until we play another team.

I agree with that. The guys always been hurt, so you can't judge anything you'v seen him do in Ames. I was praying he'd be a factor last year. Like Milan Moses, I hope Jason has a great senior year. He deserves a break after the last 3 years.
