    Chizik Q & A

    Scout.com: Gene Chizik Presser Transcript

I was surprised to read that some of the Jucos might not be seen til 3,4,5 games into the season. Jucos are brought in to play right away. Oh well, let the best man start!

    Re: Chizik Q & A

I was a little concerned in the last report from CN that the JC DL guys were really struggling to play. This kind of reafirms that. We will wait and see.

I hope he's underselling as to not raise expectations. I expect to see those JUCO D-linemen getting a few snaps in the Kent State game. (Esp. if GC expects 8 D-linemen to play each game)

Yeah, hearing that the JUCO DL guys aren't performing is scary as crap. I like Braaksma. The dude's name is Bryce. I just don't know how I feel about starting D-Tackle, 262 pound Bryce.

I like GC's approach to the media. Doesn't overstate. Unlike the goof ball Minnesota hired.

    Re: Chizik Q & A

I'll have to agree with Dart that Chizik is not a spin machine like Coach Mac was. He's more of a says it like is, however I think he sand bags a bit and would rather under promise than over promise.

It's a nice change of pace. It will be interesting to see how he reacts once the pressure of the season, fans, record starts coming into play.

I think that Gene understands what he is dealing with, in terms of his fanbase. While it is an educated group, the midwest values are pretty apparent. He speaks in a sincere, measured way, and that is SOOOOOO refreshing.

The thing that I like the most is that he is confident in himself. He realizes that at this point it is better to be realistic, which I think will continue as long as he is here, than try to confuse people with hyperbole to cover the reality.
