I'd be willing to bet a few credits that there will be a Signing Day surprise. I'm just hoping it won't be a "decommit" one.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

Sounds like ISU has their work cut out to land these players. Sounds like we might only end up with 1 out the 5.

I'm not worried about Lynn. I think we are 95% gonna get him, but the rest are long shots. I give Boji a 10% chance to come to ISU. The other three I would say there is a 50% chance that we get any one of them. We have some stiff competition for those guys.

    Josh Grady- Leader-USF
    2nd place-ISU
    Dark horse- Vanderbilt

Louvan Green-I'd like to think we are the leader, but he's from California and UNLV and Washington State can allow him to stay near.

    Kaleb Johnson- Leader-Louisville
    2nd place-Miami
    Dark Horse- ISU

    Bojay Fili- Utah State lock

Kenneth Lynn- ISU lock (kansas already filled his spot, class is full)

I think you are spot on. If we get one of them I bet it is Green, and I think we have a legit shot at Grady. It is ISU's legit conference/play QB pitch vs USF's hometown/legend pitch. I hope Vandy came in too late, because they are basically the same school as us only an SEC version and are also offering him as a QB.

Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Five to watch from now to NSD

i highly doubt we get more than lynn out of these 5.

my 5 to watch on nsd-
    david irving
    jared brackens
    sam richardson(qb)
    devondrick nealy
    donald smith

the reason i list these 5 is because they are the 5 i am most nervous about pulling a signing day switcheroo. i would hate to miss out on any of these 5, and could see any of them having a better offer come along.

My thoughts exactly... except I think we have a decent shot at Louvan Green. I don't think we have a shot at Grady, Bojay, or Kaleb though.

And... unfortunately are we not going to get most of these guys, I think we'll get a guy or two that are committed to us poached away on NSD as well.

I hope I'm dead wrong and we see some surprises, but I'm not holding my breath. I just seriously question Rhoads and company's problems with recruiting beef on the defensive line. Nearly every single guy we have on the D-line were recruited by DMac or Chiz. Hardly a one by Rhoads.

Because you have to have the "DL" label coming out of HS to grow into a college lineman

You mean, um...besides Jacob Lattimer, Walter Woods, Willie Scott, Aaron Moore, Brandon Jensen, Nick Kron and Rony Nelson?

Oh yeah--not to mention David Irving, and whoever else pops up on signing day.

Well, I suppose there is really no reason to let facts get in the way of a perfectly good diatribe!

Maybe he means starters? Sometimes I really question the logic of people around here... no one seems to understand that new recruits don't start right away... and that coaches are mostly playing with the old coaches team the first 2-3 years... its not fully their team until after five years..

    Jacob Lattimer. Not Zach.

Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Five to watch from now to NSD

    CW - here's what i think about your fab 5 + 1.....

Grady - imo he will commit to Vandy...if he wants to play qb that would be his best bet. Too much competition at ISU and USF has Daniels for 2 more years.

Johnson - seriously, he got a offer from the U and gonna leave it on the table....i think not...he's a cane.

Filimoeatu - he gone, don't care bout the vibe on him....he gone....Utah is his second home or whatever, this one is a goner.

Louvan Green - i think this will be our guy to give some additional depth along the front.
Hope he don't turn out to be a C-Lo Green Ladykilla....

Kenneth Lynn - i really think he's done flippin....he will be a cyclone and were glad to have him, could be an impact player - year one.

Now onto other potential bad news....the trickle down affect could come to Ames again this year from the same team as last year. Turns out one of Texas Techs best recruits Marcus Robison has changed from Tech to Auburn (shocker - pay is better). How this could affect us is we have two very talented DB's that Tech could target in Lynn or Brackins. Wednesday is a long ways away...hope our class stays together.....

One other tidbit...gonna make a prediction...i predict that Jevohn Miller will be converted to a DE....he got decent size at 6'-2" and 225 lbs....fwiw - george selvie was 6'-4" and 240 when Wally recruited him to South Florida...Jevohn has very good speed - 4.7 40, and one of the most impressive kids at the under armor game was Anthony Chickillo a DE recruit for Miami...by the way his measureables....6'-3" 226 lbs and 4.8 40....just saying, give the kid a redshirt and time to work on the speed rush and turn him loose ala Jacob Lattimer....
