    Slow pitch softball

I am thinking of join a league this summer, how big of a ****** bag do I have to be to fit in? Can I just be a little douchey or do I need to give it the full summers eve treatment?

1st thing to do is get a equipment bag that's on wheels and matches your shoes and outfit.

2nd thing to do is act you are god's gift in slowpitch softball

The funniest thing I see is the horrible players who think they are bad-*** because they have all the colorful gear. The best sight is Friday Fest in Urbandale watching the blowhards try to hit homeruns playing with 16"

You would fit right in at Walker Johnson (Urbandale) in their B or C league. D league is a toss up of drinkers and jerk-offs so you might be just a little bit to "king" for that league.

Is there an A league? I feel I am more suited to that level

    Re: Slow pitch softball

I played Summer and Fall in the Ames Park and Rec league last year. It just depends on your style. I played on a very layed back coed team and had a great time. No ******-baggery necessary. Most of the teams we played were the same, but there were definitely some we played that had a few "softball guys" on them.

Make sure you make loud grunts when you're up to bat.

    Re: Slow pitch softball

don't forget to use 2 batting gloves while having 2 more in your back pockets, eye black, sunglasses, and have a towel hanging out the back of your pants/shorts. Seriously though, I have played very competitively for 21 years, best advice for you is to have fun. When i started in 1990, right out of high school, I played with a bunch of friends. We got better over the years, stuck together, and got pretty damn good. We still hang out (most of us) even when not playing. I've seen too many players/teams breakup because they didn't feel like they were good enough. Have fun, a few beers, and enjoy. It's a great sport.

You know you're softball guy when you have the towel hangin out of your pants..... do your hands really get that sweaty? Is your jersey too sweaty to wipe your hands on? And the jetpack bat bag

    Re: Slow pitch softball

Haha, I think our team must've been the antithesis of softball guy. We were the only team in our division without uniforms and we had 2 (cheap) bats to share between all of us. I remember playing a team that had more bats than players...

    Re: Slow pitch softball

We always put a keg of beer behind second base. Players seemed to like it, but the umpire's calls would be kind of sketchy during the fourth game.

As mentioned before, make sure you argue all calls with the umpires as if it were the seventh game of the World Series. Good times will be had by all.

Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid was a great way to go through college (all five years of it).

    Re: Slow pitch softball

Try your hardest to take a walk. The best players in Slowpitch are the ones that don't ever swing.

Agreed to argue with the refs. Also Make up a gay high-five with a teammate. I dunno, High5, Low5, Elbow bump X2, chest bump, high 10 brought all the way around and down to a clap and then a fist bump. Thats mine, but you can come up with your own.
