    Interesting is a good word choice but I'll take scary. Maybe the kid has stepped up, that'd be a big bonus.

    I don't think it's the coaching staff that has to "settle" for Sandvig, it sounds like he's been impressing them all year. It'll be interesting to see if he works his way into the #1 or #2 spot, but the article never made a mention of Allen Bell or Chris Brown.

    I wasn't impressed with Chris Singleton last year. He got beat many times. I have more faith in Sandvig.

    I didn't think Singleton did too bad last year. The biggest thing I noticed was that he is a pretty hard hitter. He's not afraid to pop somebody. TA

    I think the defense is already better because we have a much smarter offense that cannot be predicted. I always say that 40 more yards on offense means 40 less yards given up by your defense. Look at old stats for season. A switcheroo of 80 yards sets us even with opposition from last year in yardage. And we even have position competition this year.

    This coaching staff is clearly all about the details and finding the best guy to play a position. If Sanvig is the starter right now it is because he is doing more things right than the other guys. I am not sure just how fast he is. Was he a track guy in HS?
    He sure had good numbers at RB.

    Zandvig was definitly a track guy and he is definitly very fast.

    Learning a new system gives a little more advantage than usual to newcomers. They're all starting from square one. I agree that a good offense will help the defense more than just about anything. For all the heralded players on offense last year, the defense was forced to step up time and time again.

    I am definitely more concerned about the lack of someone stepping up at safety than CB. If we don't find some quality safeties (read: better than Caleb Berg), we are going to get beat on the deep ball quite often this year.

    Didn't Sandvig win (or place) his 4x100 in the National Meet as well in HS. I think he did, but it may have been his brother.


    Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    I think that towards the end of the year Caleb really picked his position up. With Nick Moser and Steve Paris in front of him, like many have talked about Dan the Man's coaching style, Caleb didn't really have much of any experience at safety. I think he will be a great safety for us this season, he's got a really strong nose for the ball and made a couple great pass break ups around the end of the season
