FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Two in-state walk-ons will visit this weekend

I'm hearing that Iowa State will host two official visitors this weekend. Both prospects are in-state walk-ons.

    Ben Boesen from Dowling Catholic

    Levi Peters from Fort Dodge

Does anyone have any info about the Peters fella? He is not in the rivals system.

Looks like he's Fort Dodge's QB. Couldn't find much for him stat-wise.

Peters was a stud for Ft. Dodge last year. He played both sides of the ball. He played backer on d I think.

Looks like he plays several positions. Maybe has a fit at backup punter?

Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Two in-state walk-ons will visit this weekend

At 185 Boesen will have to bulk up a lot to be anything but a receiver, and maybe that's what he's being recruited for. Anybody know anything about Rob Myers of Ankeny and if there are any grade issues? I know he's also a good wrestler but he looks like he could be a good walk-on prospect at lb. I heard that Tyler Leo is being moved from rb to safety, and that could be a good position for him.

Boesen really impressed me in the state finals. He was a heck of a weapon. Great get as a walkon if we can.

Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Two in-state walk-ons will visit this weekend

Peters probably was under the radar for Rivals a bit as previous to this year he attended TRV(8 man football). Levi was a huge part of a very aggressive Dodger line backing corps(blitzed extremely often). Was surprisingly effective as a passer despite playing RB at TRV. Excellent athlete in both wrestling and baseball as well.

Does anyone have a height and weight on Peters?

I would assume he ends up at linebacker, not quarterback, from the comments that have been made. Correct?

Re: FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Two in-state walk-ons will visit this weekend

Saw Boesen play twice. He's kind of a tweener. Not fast enough to be a WR but not big enough to be a TE. I'm sure several years in a weight program would do wonders for him though. That being said, he's a smart player and catches everything. Has very good hands and was actually a pretty good blocker at the HS level.

Walk ons=no risk, possibly solid reward. I love walk ons and when your are in a spot where ISU is where the split between a guy you could get with a scholarship and a solid walk on is so small, they are great to have.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.
