    Odunsi looks pretty tough...

Travis senior Anthony Odunsi - Houston Community Newspapers: Sports

this kid definitely passes the eye test in terms of b12 potential. saw he had 16 pts and 11 assists his most recent game.

As strong as he looks, I'm looking for the strength and conditioning staff to take his training to a whole different level. He should be a solid player!

All that you are saying here is that he has potential for the Big !2 All-Airport Team. That's all "eye tests" are good for.

I'll wait and see how he does against consistent B12 competition.

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)

    Re: Odunsi looks pretty tough...

Between Odunsi, McGee, Sledge, and of course Bubu Palo, we should have the PG position covered, don't you think?

I look at the starting lineup this way....

PG: Odunsi, McGee, Sledge or Palo... may the best man win.
    SG: Allen/Christopherson
    SF: Ejim/Babb
    PF: Booker/Godfrey
    C: White/Railey

I don't think it will really matter what combination of these guys actually starts the game? We will use whatever combination of these guys that works.

As far as Cook goes, I know he's a stud, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of minutes for him. He's probably a "3" spot, isn't he? If Babb proves to be more of a "2" guy, then Cook could see a lot of minutes backing him up.

Whatever the case... this team should have no problem whatsoever making the NCAA Tourney. The question should only be how far they can make it IMO.

Exactly. There was all sorts of talk about Ejim's "Big 12" ready body and we see how that's working for him.

To be fair he is doing OK in the Big 12 for a freshman who isn't a one and done, and is playing out of position. He is just nowhere near as good as he was in non conference. And he did use that Big 12 body to outmatch the competition in non conference. He is getting about 6 boards a game playing the 4 when he is really a 3.

Agreed. 11 points 7 boards per game is just fine for a freshman playing out of position. I guess some guys get any little thrill getting any jab at our own players they can.

I normally don't mind little comments like that, but I never understood calling out ONE players name when the entire team is getting worked.

I'm also very excited about next year's team but it's a little pre-mature to assume we're an NCAA team, especially since we haven't made any tournament for the last 5 years. We'll be starting 3 and maybe 4 new guys, including the crucial point guard position (if it's not BuBu). The talent will be there, but it's unknown how it will come together and how the point guard will work out. Yes I think we'll be a team with a good chance to make the NCAA and maybe even do some damage there, but after 4-5 years of our program being way down, I'm not going to assume it.

DO you really think the OP meant anything more? By your rationale, there should apparently be no discussion of recruits (or freshmen) until they've had a chance to experience "consistent B12 competition". Should we not mention anyone by name until they're a sophomore?
