    Drop UConn

If Jamie had dropped Utah from the 2010 schedule and replaced it with an unranked opponent, ISU would probably have finished 6-6 and gone to a bowl game. This would have helped recruiting in particular and the program in general. He didn't, and now that's water under the bridge.

I hope Jamie doesn't repeat the mistake this year, though, by keeping the game to UConn on the schedule. I don't know how many starters return, but they did win the Big East last year and it will be an away game for the Clones.

If Jamie keeps UConn on the schedule and it costs us a bowl trip again this year, then why try to build a winning football program?

Are you going to donate the money to buy out the game?

    Re: Drop UConn

    How often does this happen?

How well does a program lose the stigma of being a chicken and dropping a game agreement?

UConn may be a little in disarray. We shall see.

    Re: Drop UConn

Keep UConn - the program is in disarray and their new coach was an abysmal failure at Syracuse. This could end up being an el cheapo BCS-caliber win for us.

Keep this game. UCONN 2011 =/= Utah 2010.

    Re: Drop UConn

UCONN isn't very good. We should beat them. They certainly don't have the talent Utah has. Besides all that it would cost money to buy out the game and we have already gotten out of one game for next year so it isn't happening. Get over it.

    Or beat UCONN

I think it will be a great year to be playing them while they are in transition.

Holy cow! 107-59-1 is an abysmal failure?

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life:
The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers

    Re: Drop UConn

    I say buy out UCONN.

The amount of money you need to buy out UCONN is negligent compared to a bowl win. Bowl wins build traditions. Scheduling UCONN or Utah and get humiliated by them doesn't.

    Re: Drop UConn

How about we don't run away from games. Take on all comers. Thats how you build a successful program. To be the best you have to beat the best.

Uconn is bringing in a new coach and losing their stud RB. I like our chances

    Last 5 years:
    6-5
    10-3
    4-8
    6-6
    6-6

When the going was good it was very good, but when that thing ended it was not pretty.
