    Ochocinco going back to Johnson

Stating on ESPN's NFL Live that he's "done enough with this Ocho thing," Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco confirmed Tuesday that he plans to change his last name back to Johnson. He originally brought up the decision Monday afternoon on Twitter.

"I love Cincy,we are gonna be fine, just a few minor adjustments n we'll be fine, I'll start with my name change 2 Johnson," he wrote.

He told ESPN's Trey Wingo that the name change "was fun" -- the Cincinnati star legally changed his name to Chad Ochocinco just prior to the 2008 NFL season; he was required to wear the "Johnson" nameplate on his jersey that year, but sported the "Ochocinco" tag in 2009 and this past season.

Ochocinco's announcement came just after he revealed on the latest episode of "The T. Ocho Show" that both he and Terrell Owens would like to play for the Jets.

Call it what it is. I did not see this coming. Does this mean he gets a new TV show?

Maybe.... like his teamate Carson Palmer he wants out of Cincinnati and is afraid his next team won't let him have #85. Or, he is supersticious and realizes his game has gone down hill since the change.

Or he feels he isn't getting enough press lately and this is another way to get himself on the front page(?) of the sports page again.

Winner! This guys ego needs 3 or 4 different names. He had a pretty good run at WR but his ego has always outshadowed his game. He's always been a guy that gets way more pub off the field than he does on, and I think he's just fine with that. I just don't get why the media seems to give him a free pass for his antics rather than call him on his arrogance.

He also plays in Cincinnati, who is rarely good and doesn't get much press anyway. If he didn't do all of his celebrations and all-that, he would have been just like Andre Johnson is now. A really good receiver on a crappy team. As far as his antics go, for the most part his stuff is pretty playful and fun. I don't recall him ever calling out his quarterback and doing sit-ups with his shirt off in his driveway.

I agree with most of what ya said, I think being a Bengal has a lot to do with it. Sure he hasn't done the same things TO has done but if TO put on a HOF jacket on the sidelines there'd be a line a mile long ready to drag him over the coals for it. I would trust he's just being playful if he didn't take himself so serious. And he is nowhere near Andre Johnson's league.

Or maybe he finally realized that ochocinco is eightfive in Spanish. Not eighty-five.

He probably should have opened up the old Spanish/English dictionary before the name change.
