Does Los Angeles Have a Favorite NFL Team?

This article is not about expansion (exhale Vikings fans)...it is about who the residents of the Los Angeles area root for during the NFL season. Thought it was interesting and still surprises me that the NFL has not placed a team there...or that they have not made it happen. I am sure the league office is still kicking themselves for placing an expansion team in Jacksonville when Los Angeles was available. Anyway, kind of a fun article to read:

I believe the NFL announced the expansion of the Jaguars and Panthers in 1992/93 to begin play in 1995. The NFL still had the Rams and the Raiders in L.A. when the league announced the Panthers and Jaguars.

Re: Does Los Angeles Have a Favorite NFL Team?

I'm just curious if a new NFL team in LA would be successfull. They have had multiple shots at it with the Rams and a couple of chances with the Raiders.

I doubt the league will go with expansion since the conferences are even at this point. That means another team moving to LA. The team that moves will probably not be a very good team so there will not be a lot of incentive to support the team in LA.

Now as for who would move to LA, thats a good question.
I really hope the Viking wouldn't move. That would be a shame.
My pick would be Buffalo. They are obviously the least favorite team in New York and have not had any success recently.
Then the question is, no matter who moves, how do they reshuffle the divisions.

Finally, there are already 3 teams in California. Unless the Raiders move back to LA or the Chargers move up to LA, I think they should just go without.

I don't want to see the Vikings move, but the NFL would be breathing a big sigh of relief, as it would be the easiest on them.

    Vikings to to L.A.

St. Louis Rams move from the NFC West to take the Vikings spot in the NFC North division.

Vikings move and take the Rams spot in the NFC West.

Re: Does Los Angeles Have a Favorite NFL Team?

What is sad is that there are already rumblings about the Rams thinking their dome is outdated. I have not been there so I can't attest to its condition. That facility is not that old...but it would be nice to have outdoor football in St Louis.

I believe the issue with the Raiders and LA (and with Al Davis there are many issues) is that he could not make enough money with the facility they played in (Coliseum). It is definitely outdated as is the Rose Bowl. LA is attempting to take care of these issues as their are competing groups (and locations) planning to build a NFL-type venue in the area.

    I think you are correct...
