Vikings Consider Signing CFL's Top Pass Rusher

Well, another good looking low-risk and low-cost move by Minnesota if it works out.

Vikings consider signing CFL's top pass rusher | StarTribune.com

Hunt, who led the CFL with 16 sacks while playing for Winnipeg in 2010, was one of four CFL players who worked out for the Vikings on Dec. 18.

He spent time with the Cleveland Browns in 2009 after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston. He was let go by the Browns after only one preseason game. Hunt also has worked out for Cleveland, Houston, New England and Philadelphia.

Vikings might as well plan on being in the basement with Detroit. No QB = No chance.

Pack the middle - stop the run and force the pass --- sounds like our CU and MU games!!!

Re: Vikings Consider Signing CFL's Top Pass Rusher

Well, he was 1 of 4 CFL players they worked out in December. Maybe one was a QB. Joe Kapp came from the CFL to Minnesota and worked out pretty well. Warren Moon rings a bell too. I'm glad they are looking for players that are hungry and want to compete. These CFL guys have more on film than other teams practice squad guys.

Re: Vikings Consider Signing CFL's Top Pass Rusher

Well this is the second post you have had with a CFL signing from the Vikings. Meanwhile your two heated rivals just played in the Championship game and the Packers will probably be better next year when all of there injured players get back in the rotation. Face it Viking fan. Your signing Donovan Mcnabb and your liking it. Tell me you have not noticed a Viking QB pattern here since 1987

    Wade Wilson
    Rich Gannon
    Jim McMahon
    Warren Moon
    Brad Johnson
    Randall Cunningham
    Jeff George
    Daunte Culpepper
    Brad Johnson only older
    Trvaris Jackson
    Fus Frerotte
    Brett Favre

Notice that almost all of them Minus Cullpepper and Jackson are old Quarterbacks that other teams let go because they were moving on to better QB's only to be signed by the Vikings. Also Joe Kapp was in 1967 and for only 3 years.

Tell us more about this Fus Frerotte character. Wasn't he the guy who played Davy Crockett? I had no idea he played football as well.

Re: Vikings Consider Signing CFL's Top Pass Rusher

Well I am aware that the Bears and Packers played in the NFC Title Game. The Vikings want a young QB. Whether it is Webb, a rookie, or someone out of the CFL they are going to get a young QB. They might get a veteran for a year or two, they also might throw the young QB into the fire.

I don't think they will get McNabb. The only way I saw him coming to Minnesota was because of Childress being his OC in Philly. No Philly connection on offense now in Minnesota and no McNabb.

One guy, Carson Palmer. Perfect fit, low ego WR's and a running game. He could do wonders in Purple.

He hasn't done anything since his knee injury, I would say no thanks. Also the Bengals want him to stay in Cincy.

Yep, I doubt Palmer is going anywhere. Bengals ownership has a long and storied history of ignoring trade requests.

The Dolphins did this with Cameron Wake last year, who was a 2 time defensive player of the year in the CFL I think. He came in and made an immediate impact and this year he is going to the pro bowl.

Yep, I think they should bring back Hershel and Dante. Crack out old purple jerseys. Bring in some old coaches for training camp. Go retrograde.

Re: Vikings Consider Signing CFL's Top Pass Rusher

Hey Seneca Wallace is a free agent. Not saying he would solve the problem but he is an 8 year vet familiar with a west coast system and is still fairly mobile. I would rather have him then a head case like Vince Young.

Either way the Vikings need to draft a guy and hope they hit QB gold. Personally I don't care where the Vikings find good players, if they can play then they make the team at training camp. The Vikings have some holes to fill, but most Vikings fans are used to the revolving door approach to the QB position. Its not like we expected to have Favre for 5+ years. Saying that I would expect to see a vet starting next season (whenever that is) but I don't want McNabb either.

If you are a Bears fan you can STFU about QBs
