    Question The end zone

If we get our wish and they bowl in the end zone would you like to see a Jumbotron on the Jacobson building also? I have never sat in the end zone but I think turning your neck to look at the big screen would be a big headache. give me feedback on this from the clones that sit in the end zone!

I would like to see the same exact setup on the other side. That way we had some what of a surround sound thing going on also.

I feel a powerball win coming soon for me and when that happens the west upper deck will be connected to the east upper deck over top of the Jacobson Building

That would be a neat look!

Sel4cy does make a great point.

Nebraska has (or did have) one large digitron and then two or three smaller ones elsewhere in the stadium. I think Iowa just has the one unless they added more with their renovations.

I'd venture to guess, to start with - we'll just have the one. Perhaps it would get relocated (I'm betting a new one is built when the time comes though) to the north end.

That would be cool. (expensive, but cool) You could then put a board on top of one of the hills or something. I don't think it makes sense to keep the video board where it is if you bowl the stadium in. IMO you either need 2 or move the current one to the other side. That way everyone can see it. Don't know the logistics of that however.

Can we also get a retractable roof and real scoreboards on the sides with up to date scores?

    Re: The end zone

Am I the only one who thinks that bowling in the north endzone over the Jacobsen building would look tacky? I think it'd look better if the north endzone had the lower deck bowled in, and tied in some way with the small patio/deck in front of all those windows.

Last year I went to the game at Kinnick and I swear there were 2 screens. 1 big and 1 small

    Iowa does have two.

And thank goodness, because I basically watched about 50 minutes of the game on those things.

If we had the money/need to bowl in the north endzone, just move the Jacobsen building and do it right. But that is so many years off it seems silly to even consider it. We gotta get the south done by 2012, and then sell all those seats out first.

    Re: The end zone

I'm a little lazy to go look at the renovation plans, but where does the scoreboard/video board plan on being located after the south is bowled in?

I, too, think it would be great to see it put on top of the jacobson building.

Does anyone know what the increase in capacity will be when the end zone gets bowled in?

    Re: The end zone

Bowling in the endzone will not increase the capacity all that much....I think it is around 1,500 more seats. I would like the North End bowled in as well. The Jacobson building is just ugly.......but that is obviously not going to happen any time soon.

There will presumably be a new one right above the new seats in the endzone.
