Here's a video interview with Melvin Ejim that was recorded earlier today. He talks about the importance of this week's games, his own personal progress and more.

Great interview! Feel bad he's having to sacrifice some much on the offensive end of the floor this year. If Ejim keeps his head up, he'll find his shots with this team... Very good player with off the court qualities that remind me of Brackins...

I don't see what Ejim is sacrificing... Right now he's not making his shots and looks completely lost when attacking the rim.

He's playing out of position for the good of the team. He's not a 4, he's a 3, and would be much better suited there.

That's not causing all of his problems, by any means, but it can't help.

I agree with this. He's been matched up with the opposing teams best player in Big 12 play (offensively and defensively) and all of which have been true 4's or 5's. It will be tough on him this year, no doubt. But should make things seem easier come next year when he'll have more favorable matchups.

The whole team needs to draw more shooting fouls. CFH needs to get them looking like Jake does when he shoots in a mob.He is all *****les and elbows, but he gets the shot up.

I'm so happy Ejim is a part of this team. He is a fantastic young man and I'm excited for the next three years with him playing for the Cyclones.

Jake is out of control half the time. Scares the heck out of me when he has the ball.

That said, I love him and everyone on this team! Let's get Tech boys!

Re: Video: Ejim says home games are huge

I just watched Melvin's interview. We are all conditioned to think that any player that has a bad game or 5 has one foot out the door at Iowa State. But I was happy to hear this interview. He seems fine. I think maybe his frustration shows more than it does with other people.

    He'll be fine.

I also liked that Hoiberg said he was meeting with everyone today just to kind of touch base.

Re: Video: Ejim says home games are huge

I'll admit that I was starting to get very frustrated with Melvin
I think we will see a Melvin the next three years that we saw at the beginning of this season, when he actually gets to play at his true position.

You can tell that Melvin is a good kid and I'm proud that he is a cyclone

Definitely a good kid. Going to be a great, great Cyclone by the time his career is done. 1500+ points, 500 rebounds, mark it down.

Re: Video: Ejim says home games are huge

Sounds like the team has plenty of confidence that they are going to be 3-4 after this week. Normally that would make me nervous, but for some reason it doesn't with this team. I think the team is frustrated with a couple of those games they let slip away plus getting beaten down on Saturday. As long as they don't let that frustration take away their focus, and they get things clicking again, I think this week could be pretty brutal... for TTU and/or OU!

A freshman who averages 10 points as a freshman can produce 18-20 as a senior.

Re: Video: Ejim says home games are huge

For all you that remember old Pink coaching, didn't he used to talk about the home/away points system that Melvin was referring to. CFH is really bringing in a little bit of everybody to his coaching style and philosophies. Maybe Johnny talked about it too, but I seem to remember it being one of Floyds press conference points all the time.

That rug really tied the room together, did it not dude?
