    Re: slow down offense

Collectively the team is not a very good shooting team. We really only have 1 reliable 3pt shooter. In the past we've had 2-3.

Depth is an issue as well.

It's painful to watch, but with this team, it gives the best chance to win in the B12.

I'm guessing A&M switched up defenses to contain that.

Because that is the Aggies game. Go that way and we lose by 20 and are never in the game.

I think 1 is an understatement. Prins and Mansfield are both > 35% from the arc. The problem is that Cole, Poppens, and Schroll are all not threats to shoot from long range, and Bolte and Mansfield are the only threats to drive. That lets the opposing defense guard the good shooters closely and sag on the others.

It's not that different from ISU's teams in the past, except there are a few more non-shooters getting real minutes and the overall experience level is down (as well as the lack of depth).

Very true. We're a good team when it comes to transition defense, and A&M still got multiple transition baskets.

    Re: slow down offense

I've only been to a couple of games but from what I have seen it doesn't look like we have a very good offense for a transition/fast paced game at this point. Also the Aggies played great defense today props to them. They're not #5 by accident.

    Re: slow down offense

A better question is ..Why didnt bill fennelly recruit some players who can shoot the basketball?

This team reminds me of the Pam Wettig era at Iowa State....consistently losing games in the conference, and recruiting no one who can shoot or is very athletic.

Did ya notice how athletic Texas A & M was today? Now thats a basketball program, at least one that can shoot the ball.

    Re: slow down offense

Strong reaction for a close game against a team the caliber of A&M. Do you realize their only loss was a 3-point game @ RPI #1 Duke? They beat TCU by 25. They beat Michigan by 18. This 9-point game was their closest game all season other than the Duke game.

    Re: slow down offense

Not to take anything away from A&M, but our problem was not the transition game or outside shooting; rather I think it was a lack of inside scoring. I do not know how many points in the paint we had, but it could not have been many. If we get more of an inside game going, that will open up the outside game. By the way, I have been gone for several weeks, so could someone tell me what happened to Schroll?

She took a knee to the head in the first half against Nebraska (both players were diving for a ball). She got a concussion and hasn't been cleared to play yet. When they showed her on the bench later in that game, she had a huge lump over her left eye.

The knee to the head didn't actually create the bump. What did do was drive her forehead into the court and man did it bounce hard!
