If my wife were to do that to me, I don't think I'd even be at the wedding. Cyclone Football > Life.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

Yeah we have some "smart" friends that did this to us too. At least are picking the 8th to get married. Originally I was given the pass for the 15th to attend the game, I called the bluff and her tune changed very fast. I am able to bring a small radio with me to the wedding though, for now. Why must we let women tell us what our priorities are? Oh wait I know why......

Oh I do my friend and that is why unfortunately this one day has to go to her so that I may enjoy the post-marital bliss before it fades out.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

I've had two friends do that to me. The first one was my best friend, and I was the best man. The other one was last year. The Cyclones were doing well up until I had to go into the church. When I came out, it was late in the third, and it was starting downhill. His fault completely. In related news, I'm getting married next year, and it will not be during football season. Period.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

Dude I hear ya! I had to miss the big game last year because my girlfriend's best friend was getting married on that day. What was even worse was that I could have seen the game in a suite in Kninnick! Plus the bride and groom were dumb for planning the wedding on the Nebraska USC game and they were Nebraska fans. We watched the game at a bar as long as we could then right before we had to go in ISU intercepted the ball in the 4Q. I turn off the car and was ******. Told the GF that this is exactly why you don't gett married in FB season.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

My wife wanted a september wedding but common sense prevailed, and we got married in August. If you get married during football season that means every year your anniversary is during football season. Most wives wouldn't take kindly to watching football on their anniversary.

I have had to miss the last 2 victories over Nebraska for weddings though, and one of those couples is already divorced.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

Yeah last fall I found out one of my friends was getting married and it was mentioned that the date was going to Sept. 15th this fall. I called him right away and said "Hey buddy congrads on getting engaged I heard the wedding might be Sept. 15th just a little FYI but that is the Iowa/ISU game." I got a call back 10 minutes later "hey Flander thanks for the heads up we changed our wedding date." A few years ago I also had a buddy get married on the ISU/Nebraska game that went to OT. The wedding party was already at the reception and they knew I would still be watching the game so they called me to give play-by-play. The thing was her whole family was Nebraska fans and his family is ISU fans. Just bad planning.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

I've missed 2 weddings that my wife was in for games. Its great to be married to a sports fan. We promised each other we'd call each other for updates and she called me a lot more than I called her.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

Luckily my brother (best man) is busy untill October, pushing my wedding to November, unfortunately I will have to miss the Colorado game but it's just one game... Last year I had to work on the big game day and the year before that I was in my cousin's wedding in Chicago... best part about that was that I was the ONLY ISU fan in the wedding party so I got to gloat all through pictures!

    Re: Wedding on D Day...

I did cut my honeymoon short two years ago so we could make it back for the ISU/IA game (ISU pounded the hawks). It was pretty much the best decision of my life.
