Question of the week ? Vote on the dot com webshot today

Question of the Week: Will the Hawkeyes and Cyclones have winning seasons?
    By DUANE NOLLEN

    The Oskaloosa Herald

    OSKALOOSA —
Proponents of the FairTax gained a lopsided victory in the voting for this past week’s Question of the Week.
The question was: “Should we scrap the income tax and go to the ‘FairTax’?” Of the 646 respondents, 631 — 97.68 percent — said “Yes” while 15 — 2.32 percent — said “No.”
The skewed nature of the responses leads me to suspect that the question was linked to a pro-FairTax Web site. It’s just one of those “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm.”
The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.
This week’s question deals with the upcoming college football season.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says that the country is hungry for change. Well, I’m hungry for college football.
The Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones recently had their media days in preparation for fall football camp.
The Cyclones are set to kick off their season Aug. 30 at home against Kent State. The Hawkeyes will take on Northern Illinois Sept. 1 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
This year will be a rebuilding and regrouping year for both teams. After an exciting Iowa-Iowa State game, the 2006 season ended in disaster for both programs. Iowa State finished 4-8 overall and Iowa limped in with a 6-7 record. Iowa almost found redemption at the Alamo Bowl where the Hawkeyes were just one bogus first half penalty and one bad fourth quarter play call away from beating the defending national champion Texas Longhorns. But, alas, the Hawkeyes fell 26-24.
But, this is a new year, and both Herky and Cy need to dust off their tail feathers, don their shoulder pads and get ready to hit the Big 10 and Big 12 hard.
Can new Cyclone head coach Gene Chizik and Hawkeye head coach Kirk Ferentz right their ships and get their teams sailing on a course to the post season?
    What do you think?
This week’s Question of the Week: Will the Hawkeyes and Cyclones have winning seasons? Hawkeyes: YES or NO; Cyclones: YES or NO.
People can vote on The Herald’s Web site, oskaloosa.com, from Monday through noon on Friday. Then, votes will be tallied and published the following Monday.

It should go without saying Iowa will have a winning season with that schedule. I would feel very confident that ISU would win 7 games with their schedule. Of course, I didn't see Iowa going 6-7 last year but still.

In all seriousness, I see an Iowa winning record, and our Cyclones oh-so-close to a winning record, but just under. I'm thinking in the 4-to-6 win range for Iowa State, with the prediction being 5 wins, 7 losses.
