Texas Tech is scared of TCU

Texas Tech drops TCU from 2011 college football schedule - ESPN Dallas

Simply put, Tech is scared of losing to TCU. If they wanted, Tech could have dropped Southeast Texas State or Northern Idaho Community College to make room for TCU. The conference's new 9 game schedule is an excuse, not a reason.

I'd think everyone would be scared of TCU right now. Saw at least two decommits from other schools on the ESPN ticker last night, and immediate commits to TCU. Pretty sure one of them was from OU.

The new conference schedule makes this move a no brainer. But there are off the field reasons for this as well. Tech shouldn't be looking to help out TCU with any kind of paycheck, or a national televised game. I know we dropped Utah, who did everyone else drop? I can't wait to see the kinds of schedules TCU and Utah play after they get settled into their new BCS conferences. They'll be rolling up patsy after patsy just like the rest of the big boys.

Re: Texas Tech is scared of TCU

This is why the BCS is a bunch of ********. Teams like TCU and Boise State get punished because they don't play enough big name teams. Now the big name teams are backing out of playing a team like TCU, for the second year in a row.

The reason TCU and Tech did not play their game in 2010 was because ESPN (exclusive owner to the rights to broadcast all the BCS bowl games and 33 of the 35 bowl games,) wanted to broadcast a different Tech game the same weekend.

    Weak.

No, they're not afraid of Utah. ISU didn't back out of playing Utah two years in a row, and played the Utes at least once. Besides, when ISU needed to drop a non-conference game to fit in the 9th conference game into their schedule, their choices were to drop Iowa, Northern Iowa, UConn, or Utah. So the choices of really which game to drop came down to dropping a game at UConn or a game at Utah, because ISU isn't dropping Iowa or UNI from their football schedule.

Both us and Utah needed to drop a game. However, after the thumping they gave us I'm sure that made the decision easier in hindsight.

The strogest recruiting area for both TCU & TT is the DFW metroplex. If I were TT, I would not help out TCU either. That was a no brainer, especially under the the new conf setup for the B12.

Make up your mind. Either Tech chose to back out of playing TCU two years in a row, or ESPN asked them to one of the two. You posted it, and you can't have it both ways.

History majors should know better than to twist the facts to fit their own agenda.

People are talking about dropping Iowa because of the nine game conference schedule. Personally, I think that's a dumb idea--but does it have anything to do with either the BCS or us being "scared" of them???
