    Railey?

This loss hurts bad, really need to win 2 at home next week. The guys were completely out of gas at the end, which I still don't accept as an excuse. My question is where was Railey? Did I miss something? When he has played he has been decent. It seems like another big body may have caused some problems for that left handed guy who got so many rebounds. At least he could have chewed up some minutes. What is going on with him?

    Re: Railey?

My guess is that the staff felt the match ups were better with other players, and while JVB did sit a spell during the 2nd half, there's not always that many minutes to go around.

I think he's in the doghouse, honestly. He hasn't been used a whole lot ever since his accident.

    Re: Railey?

I'm sure he is still somewhat in the doghouse for his accident right now. Hopefully once Fred gives him some minutes again he plays hard and starts to earn some more minutes. We could use another big body to eat up some minutes right now.

I may have missed it so serious question, what was his cover up OWI accident? I know he had the early morning accident, lucky to have no serious injuries, and police stated they thought alcohol was suspected. But have any charges actually come out against Railey? Or what exactly do you mean by cover up?

I certainly haven't heard of any alcohol related charges. Thought he got a ticket for falling asleep.

    Re: Railey?

Being gassed is a pretty good excuse. Have you ever played basketball when exhausted? Especially playing against somebody who isn't? In a razor thin game it can be an excuse.

That is why we quit rebounding at the three minute mark. looks like we need a little more Bubu otu there to add energy.

    Re: Railey?

Okay, being gassed is an excuse for not rebounding. So why not play Railey for a few minutes? If he did something wrong, then suspend him. But to have him available, and have the rest of the team lose because they are to tired to rebound, doesn't seem fair to the rest of the team.

I want us to have high standards, and if he deserves to be punished thats fine, sit him for the rest of the year. I just don't want to see him get garbage minutes in the next game if he could have helped last night.

He may be an unnanounced suspension.

    Re: Railey?

If Railey was interested in the team, he wouldn't have been out as late as he was & rolled his vehicle - intoxicated, asleep, both, or neither.
Fred can keep him on the bench as long as he sees fit, as far as I am concerned.

    Re: Railey?

I trust Fred to do whatever is right for the team and maybe there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. But I agree, putting him in there for just a couple of minutes in the second half would have been helpful if he just would have rebounded hard and fouled anybody that got close to the basket.

Perhaps the concern was that he was not a good matchup for their bigs. In such a tight game, perhaps ISU is not in a position to win it at the end if he is in and the 'Clones lose the lead. You have to pick your poison.

    Re: Railey?

I just think he would not have been a good matchup. He would have fouled and they would have made the shot and been at the line, where he didn't miss all night, BTW
