    The Dan McCarney offense..

If we keep playing not to lose, guess what happens? We lose.

I don't feel like we played to lose tonight. What hurt us was the fullcourt press and the double team on DG. Another thing is we CANNOT give as many O rebounds like we did tonight. There's no excuse for letting you opponent get several key rebounds off missed free throws. In every case they had a second chance opportunity and scored every time.

Agreed with the OP. At some point DG needs to let someone else try and score. Running the same play for 10 minutes straight gets those results.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

We didn't play not to lose tonight. We ran our offense throughout. Hell, with about 1:30 left in the game JVB throws up a three. We just couldn't rebound and couldn't get a stop.

    Re: The Dan McCarney offense..

When we have had a lead late in games we continue to try to run the clock out. In so doing, we fail to get good shots.

Repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

If you think this team played to lose tonight you weren't watching the same game I was. We had some unfortunate miscues late but this was a very strong effort by the coaches and the players.

This! If only JVB would have held onto the ball when he got that rebound. I also feel like the offensive charge was the worst call I've seen in awhile. Kid was clearly moving to the right and practically cut DG off. Horrible call.

    Re: The Dan McCarney offense..

I didn't think it was that bad tonight. It wasn't 4 guys on the baseline with their hands on their knees while DG dribbled the clock down to 8 seconds left at half court like we did against Nebraska.

The three rebounding opportunities that we lost lost the game. That let them tie it in regulation.

The problem was we stopped playing defense in the last two minutes.

Yup. Bad call at the end of regulation, robbing us of the chance to put up the game winning shot.

    Re: The Dan McCarney offense..

I agree with the OP. Near the end of this game and the Neb game we went to the 1-4 spread....kinda like the old Iowa four corners offense Lute used to lose games with.....I get the need to bleed the clock but it hurt us tonight. Gotta keep scoring.

Or the team could get a defensive rebound at the end of the game to put it away.

I fear this loss is going to have a hang over effect. Hopefully after the Nebraska game and this one they haven't lost confidence.

I'm not sure if we ever started playing defense in the first place?
