Collin Franklin?

    Collin Franklin?

    So we now have a blog on how Ben Lamaak is getting ready to try and launch his NFL career. I know David Sims is playing in some All-Star games as well. But I have heard nothing about Collin Franklin. IMO he would be the highest draft pick of any of our seniors, and I have heard next to nothing about him. Has anyone heard what he is doing to get ready for the NFL combine, or his pro day?

    Just because he was good at ISU doesn't mean there's not a 100 other prospects just like him.

    Lamaak has blue chip size.

    Sims is a gamer of a ball hawk.

    Collin is just solid. Most NFL teams would rather waste a draft pick on some beefed up college basketball star who has no shot in the NBA.

    That said, I hope Collin gives it the best he can because you just never know.

    Collin is listed as a 4th/5th round on ESPN. The highest of all ISU draft prospects.

    umm.. scouts love Franklin. I don't know what you are talking about. No, he isn't a first rounder but he will play in the league.

    Franklin has the size, speed, and hands that the NFL look for. I expect him to do well on draft day and beyond.

    I never said he didn't have a shot or wouldn't get drafted. It's almost a give though, that some basketball player will get drafted before him. It happens every year. Jimmy Grahm was drafted in the 3rd round last year.

    I've learned to trust this site more than ESPN, and they don't even have Collin listed.

    if any of our guys go before the fifth or sixth round I would be shocked most will be a late round if at all.

    Dopey, I am in complete disagreement with you. IMO Collin Franklin was the best player on our team last year. If he doesn't deserve to be drafted than none of our players do.

    FWIW: I stated Franklin was listed as 4/5 on ESPN but that isn't true. There are no round projections available ESPN [yet].

    I suspect 5th round for Collin would be reasonable.

    i was talking the draft with my buddy the other day and even though he is a hawkeye fan, he thought that he was a great TE and wished that he would have played at Iowa. to have an iowa fan admit that even with the D*** stomping us the last few years, has to make us feel good about what we produced.

    Colin Franklin will be drafted....TE's are truly coveted in the NFL and he IS an NFL TE.
