    Next US President

Other than Clinton, Obama, Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee, and Fred Thompson I don't see that anyone else that has a ghost of a chance of being the next US president. Anyone disagee or believe that the aforementioned list could be narrowed?

If by some unfortunate work of Satan, the presidential race winds up being Clinton vs. Giuliani, I'm leaving the country.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I really think that the Democratic nomination is Clinton's to lose. The only thing that will prevent her from being the nominee is a major gaffe.

Although the media considers Giuliani the front runner there are quite a number of things that I could see derailing his candidacy.

The Democrats will likely control Congress, so if the next President is a Republican we can expect more gridlock.

The Democratics have a chance to make some real change if they can capture both the Presidency and keep their grip on Congress.

However peering a little farther into the future a Clinton presidency might lead to a GOP rebirth, and the prospect of a new Republican majority forcing another era of gridlock. If Hillary doesn't end up battling a Republican Congress, she will getting most of her state-expanding projects approved, from national health care to video game censorship to revved-up food-handling regs. And don't expect the family that intervened in more countries than any other post-World War II
administration to retreat from Bush's foreign policy. Indeed, until
her recent flip-flop, Hillary backed the Iraq war and most of the "war on terror." Of all the major candidates, Hillary Clinton is the one whose presidency is easiest to visualize in detail. No wonder I share your feelings about her.

Kind of like a really bad horror movie.

I think the nation could have easily absorbed the mistakes of Bush I, Clinton I, Bush II, Clinton II in the normal scheme of things, but I fear what will happen if they are taken one directly after the other.

I think that "gridlock" is the best we can hope for: At least it would keep the legislative critters from hurting us worse than they normally could.

The only one I would add would be Gingerich. If he decides to get in the race, he may be competitive.

    Re: Next US President

Hillary is not an upgrade against this group. I do not see her as much of a leader. She will have us all divided. Barrack is Oprah's boy. Huckabee sounds (not looks) more Presidential than both. Mitt Romney is looking better with his hair.

Yes, we need a dark horse to surprise us like Newt Gingrich.

If Clinton wins the democratic nomination, I can pretty safely place bets on the next president being a Republican.

    Re: Next US President

I would say John Edwards has at least as much chance as Huckabee or Guiliani. I'm not predicting he's going to win, but neither of those other guys are either.

I also love the idea that Newt Gingrich, who left congress in utter disgrace, is going to ride to the Republican party's rescue. Actually I can't wait for Newt to get into the race. he's the only one who can really challenge Giuliani on (a complete lack of) family values.

    Re: Next US President

Why was John Edwards not in the list of potential candidates worthy of the nomination? I think that pairing him up with a guy like Obama would make him very electable. If Obama slides far enough down the polls, and he decides to team up with Edwards, I think they could easily pass Clinton.

    Re: Next US President

Who is the president of Canada anyway? President? Prime Minister? King? Whatever...

Time to start finding out such things because NOBODY on that list has me very excited. Short of Thompson that is, and I'm cooling on my support of him.

Kind of a repeat of the '96 election between the Viagra candidate, and the Viagra-anitidote candidate.

    Whoohoo!

    I hear Australia is nice.....
