How will the depth chart look next season at RB?

I'm starting to wonder how the depth chart will look next season at RB. I read the following article about Standard:
Area's top prep rushers run from Mizzou's style
and I cannot wait to see the kid play in Ames. My question is do they red shirt him, I dont think so? Where does Duran Hollis fit in? What about James White? Is there any chance Nealy gets a look? In my 28 years of being an ISU fan I dont remember ever seeing this much SOLID depth at RB, I am truly amazed by what this staff has been able to do at RB.

Adam Robinson would be third or fourth string on our team

I say red shirt Standard. Johnson is more then likely getting 95% of the carries this upcoming season.

Johnson isn't big enough to handle that many carries plus he most likely won't be in the backfield on passing downs.

Isn't big enough?! How Much you want to bet Shontrelle will be pushing 200 pounds by the time the season starts? He's going to gain weight and is going to get alot better on stanima

Wouldn't you say Woody, in most cases is kind of his own position? I don't know how else to say it. He is kind of a situational guy and let's say Shontrelle got hurt or something don't you think Hollis would then be the feature back with Woody remaining where he is? I guess that's kind of how I see it going down.

How much do you want to bet Shontrelle doesn't sniff 75% of the carries?

Re: How will the depth chart look next season at RB?

Just looking at the guys we have, I kind of think Hollis will see quite a few carries. Shontrelle isn't built to be an every down back, and Woody is at his best once we have the defense a little tired. He just hits 'em in the mouth. White might be able to give a few carries a game too. He seems to have some speedy and elusiveness.

From what I've gathered, Hollis somewhere in between those 2. I think Standard redshirts and most of the carries are split between Johnson, Woody, and Hollis.

I think Nealy plays a ton as a slot WR. Maybe Herman will add some jet sweeps to the playbook and we see him run the ball that way, with him hopefully being capable of taking a 10 yard screen to the house.

I don't think you put Woody on that list at all. Not because I don't think he'll see the field a lot, I just don't think he's competing against guys like Shontrelle.

Woody is basically our Fullback, but since we don't use a fullback, he's our 3rd down back. I don't see him losing that job. He is going to be our go to guy for the next three years on 2nd/3rd and short. He's not 2nd on the list, he's in first on another list.

You put in a guy like Shontrelle knowing he might get zero, or he might break through for the touchdown.

You put in Woody to get the first down in a tough situation.

    I'm not convinced he's better at 200lbs.
At 185 he's explosive and a threat to break away any time he touches the ball.
We have other guys to handle the heavy lifting.
I'd like to see SJ in the slot running some jet as well as in the backfield.

Re: How will the depth chart look next season at RB?

I'd bet that BOTH Nealy and Standard redshirt. Hollis had a lot of good reports and was basically neck and neck with Shontrelle as to who played and who redshirted this past fall. He's going to be a solid backup. And there's still James White, who a lot of people (including ARob) were high on. The only way I see either of the true freshmen playing is if Nealy proves to be too big of a threat catching the ball out of the backfield to sit. But, I think that Shontrelle catches the ball just fine and we'll have slot WRs like West, Young, Gary and Horne to make plays in space.

My guess at the backfield carries:

    Shontrelle 60%
    Woody 20%
    Hollis 15%
    White 5%

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing considering the company he's in with the other backs... I agree, it'll probably be rare for him to see to many touches.
