    Is the magic back?

    Is the magic back?

I say...maybe. If we keep showing up like we did tonight and Hilton stays loud and once again becomes one of the most feared arenas in college basketball, I will change my answer to a yes.

    Re: Is the magic back?

Its not back completely. But its showing its first signs of life in years. Was commenting during the game that i kinda wish we'd bought 4 seats in our area instead of 2 (could only get 2 in that area with the 20-29 discount, the rest would have to be full price) as those will be hard to get next year.

    Logically, not yet.
But I don't feel fully logical right now.

    Re: Is the magic back?

I vote for a no. When was the last time we beat a ranked team at home? Holding highly touted teams to the ropes wasn't what the magic was, but beating them was.

    Re: Is the magic back?

Today was the closest it has been in years. It may have been all the way back if the building had been completely full.

I just hope that the students, and those that live within driving distance of Hilton, and can afford it, realize that this team is worth coming out on a cold winter day or night to watch. It is not the same kind of team ISU has put on the floor the last few years. This team has a good coaching staff, and plays hard from beginning to end. No superstars, but a great team. Worth watching and supporting.

    Re: Is the magic back?

It's not quite back. The last few years it was completely dead. Fred is currently giving Hilton Magic CPR and is breathing life into it.
When Hilton Magic is officially back, everybody will know it and there won't need to be a poll for it.

    Re: Is the magic back?

Honestly it feels pretty forced still, everyone (fans, media, etc) have been making such a big deal of talking about it all the time. I think when it's back, we'll just know.

Question for those who were around during "real" Hilton Magic- was the concourse full of people watching the last 5 minutes with one foot out the door? Or did people actually support the team until the very end, even if it meant sacrificing that extra 10 minutes of their lives that they obviously waste walking to their cars AFTER the game.

    Re: Is the magic back?

Baylor was #9 earlier this year, although unranked now so it doesn't count. I was also a maybe, with Nebraska looking good at KU, and our 2 losses being to those 2 teams in the Big 12, we may be better than we think.

I wonder if our traffic management has been looked into... at times it can be a mess after games, and maybe better control of that might improve people leaving.

For later night games i can understand needing to get back for early work or school.. other than that... i dont mind waiting in line a bit, in the car, listening to the postgame show.

A double digit win over a team that has the caliber of players that Baylor has will, I think, go a long way towards convincing the students (and others) that this is a completely different team than the teams of the past few years.

That and the fact that our next home games are against Texas Tech and Oklahoma...

    Re: Is the magic back?

I think that I would offer a really discounted special to students for the rest of the year just to fill up those balcony seats.

No CA fees, no catches, just cheap seats for the rest of the year.

    Re: Is the magic back?

No, the magic is not back. But with a great team and an awesome crowd, the foundation is being built for when a little Hilton Magic may be required.

Although, I'd prefer to just have an awesome team, let the 'magic' rest, and just have an phenomenal crowd, supporting a phenomenal team.

    Re: Is the magic back?

I love lamp because I have never witnessed Hilton Magic before, either at the game or watching on TV. So someone let me know when it happens.
