Any worry that the NBA will come calling for Fred

in the next few years? I could see that happening. He has the NBA experience, the demeanor, the intelligence, leadership, etc. The only thing missing is coaching experience. However, it seems that he is getting that as we speak and proving that he will be a good one. The NBA has historically taken some chances on coaches with very little actual coaching experience anyway.

I couldn't foresee that happening for another couple years, but it is a possibility if he keeps the momentum going.

I guess that wouldn't be the worst problem in the world to have, since it would mean that Fred is doing a damn good job.

Nope, if they do that means we just went to the final four.

Everyone will be coming for CPR and the Mayor. I love the fact that these guys love Iowa State and won't pull a do*chey move like Chiz.

Even if they do, no way he goes. He's at his dream job now.

I really think this is Fred's dream job. I bet he stays until someone gets stupid and kicks him out.

Let's take it back a few steps. This has been an entertaining season, but all we just did was beat a team that has never won in Ames in its history.

This is Fred's dream job. Even if they do come calling, I don't think he goes. Fred is aware of what happened to Tim Floyd when he went to the NBA.

I am not worried. I can't wait to see the backcourt being the Hoiberg twins in about 12 years. How cool would that be?

I think you're probably right. Hopefully that is the case, but I do think that he would be a great fit in the NBA. I really compare him to Kirk Ferentz, in that he has a very professional approach, that not all college coaches bring. Hopefully like Kirk, Hoiberg will not fall to the allure of the bright lights that the pros bring.

Nope i dont because theres way better other coaches out there who could do well at an NBA level.
And we would of had to win a final 4

I don't disagree that we still have a lot to prove, but Fred has done as well with the talent that he was given, then any coach in the country would have done. Once he gets better talent (next year), I think we'll see a big time coach in the making.

Agreed. I think there's always a chance (everyone has their price), but if he's successful (and lets be honest, its very early to determine that, though i love what ive seen so far) i think he stays here a long time.

He's Ames and Iowa State through and through. I can't wait to see the statute they build of the Mayor in 20 years. Couple final fours, a few conference championships, a pipeline of players to the NBA. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Re: Any worry that the NBA will come calling for Fred

Interesting to read these threads about CPR to Pitt and now Fred possibly to the NBA. I have no idea or insight, but my gut tells me neither would bail within the first 4 years of their contract.

The interesting part to me is that everyone overlooks the guy that I really think has a strong possibility of moving on -- JP. I put it at about 50/50 that the AD position at Wisky will be available within the next couple of years now that Big 10 expansion is done and JP has to be considered a front runner.
