    Big Green Egg & Tailgates

I wanted to know if anyone on this board has a BGE that they use for tailgating. I got one a few weeks ago, and my life has changed forever, but it's a real bummer how heavy it is.

I really want to take it down to the games, but I think it could pose some problems. Has anyone found a good way to move this thing around and make sure it doesn't break?

And a "Big Green Egg" is... what?

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I think you can buy a smaller one, But I have been to tailgates that have had them there....they freakin' rock. You would have to load it in a truck, trailor, or one of the wire platforms that you can attach to your trailor hitch receiver and strap it down very good.....

I have a large BGE and I built a cart for it this summer. The thing now ways about 300lbs, so its not going anywhere but my backyard. I have thought about buying the small egg, but that is going to cost $300. I guess I will be using the Weber charcoal grill like last year.

Well, that's the kind of answer I was looking for. I had no idea they were that heavy until I was lifting it off of the truck. I was hoping that I could do some overnight smokes at our tailgating bus before games. You know, drink beer, baste, drink beer, turn, drink beer & baste again. But I'm not sure it's worth the risk or damage or back injury. Perhaps I may in fact need a small one just for tailgates.

Dude, buy a Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. I've taken mine tailgating many times. Very portable, and it can smoke with the best of them.

step 1: cut keg in half
step 2: add hinges, handles and stand
step 3: put in gas burners
step 4: fire the ***** up and cook some dead animals!

While Weber makes a good product, it by no means compares to a Big Green Egg. It was by far the best grill purchase I have ever made.

Someone showed me this site the other day: Lazydrinker Home* Page an ISU fan makes these. They are a little pricey but that would be a great thing to have!
