Cam Newton and his dear old Daddy...

Despite contrary reports, Cecil Newton was at BCS title game - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF* - Yahoo! Sports

Well... I guess the NCAA telling him to stay away from the Auburn program didn't register with Cecil. How fitting that Cam knew exactly where to find him after the game in a crowd of 75,000 people. Just another example of Cam having no idea what his dear old daddy was up to.

He was never officially banned from being there.

I don't think anyone is saying that they wouldn't, it just seems like Auburn is just covering more crap up. It almost seems like they just said he wouldn't be there to make it seem like he was getting punished. How can you be a superstars parent with all the publicity lately and not know he's at the game?! I call BS!!

$cam Newton is 100% accurate. Love seeing a national championship that will in time be forfeited. NCAA you are just as guilty as Cecil and his son Cam, not a one of the three are innocent.

Check out this comment from the article:

And if my son was playing in the national title game, it would take 3 billion china men to keep me out of the stadium!!! The NCAA is the one's at fault here, with there stupid rules and double standards. The punishments are not even across the board. If I am a student athlete, dont kid yourself, I am broke, cannot get a job, and making the University and NCAA MILLIONS......I am taking my piece of the pie!!! Stop blaming the kids for the corrupt f'd up system!!!

Re: Cam Newton and his dear old Daddy...

Sad thing is that if they do end up digging up more dirt and money on Cam, the NCAA won't do anything for risk of looking like idiots on this whole thing.

I did not see this but am guessing that Cecil had spoken to the 6 Flags executives prior to the game and worked out some sort of endorsement deal for Cam to say he was going to 6 Flags and not Disney World. I wonder how much cash that little stunt made them?

I also found it interesting that Cam's parents were able to afford the trip to the game, tickets, lodging, food, etc.... They were crying the whole time the NCAA was investigating about how they had and let me get this right...."We got no money... we have nothing." Well... how in the hell did you manage to travel and attend the National Championship game then? Another head scratcher.

While I agree with you that Cecil is probably not to be trusted, my interpretation of "mutually agreed upon that Cecil was not to attend the game" meant that Auburn was not going to let him ride on the "families" plane or give him a ticket. I don't think Auburn or the NCAA has the power to prevent anyone from entering a stadium on their own accord (unless they have a bomb or are disruptive while there) - and I don't blame Cecil if that is the route he took to be there.

Also, the Newton's could very well be poor (although again I don't believe it for a second) and received a loan from anyone in order to be at the game seeing as their son is about to be a millionaire once he declares for the draft.

Re: Cam Newton and his dear old Daddy...

yeah how did they afford to get there. I have 2 children and I can't take a trip. I know I make more money than Cecil does. Minus the Auburn paychecks that is. So how did they afford it all. It had to cost upwards of 4 thousand dollars to do it.

That is what Auburn told ESPN. I had a sneaky suspicion that Auburn just said that so ESPN would not be focusing on his dad during the broadcast, and that he was somehwere in the stadium hiding from the cameras.

I'm 99% sure Auburn knew Cecil was in attendance, and this was all orhastrated to keep the spotlight off Cecil Newton.
