Reasons to hate on Gene Chizik

Giggles was being critical of Cyclones fans for hating on the Chiz for leaving Iowa State. I agree with him that Iowa State is better off without the Chiz and the Chiz clearly has more alumni dollars to buy players at Auburn which makes it a better fit due to his inability to coach up players. That being said, what other reasons do you have, other than the Chiz leaving, for hating on him?

    A few of mine:
We gave him an opportunity to be a head coach for the first time and knew he would need a few years to "learn on the job" - we just didn't know he'd leave before he actually learned anything.

He wasted two years of rebuilding opportunity for Iowa State football by hiring his buddies instead of quality assistants.

He never found enough donors to buy a heisman trophy winner.

He didn't recruit Iowa players and didn't try to build any relationships with Iowa high school coaches. For example, he never attended the Iowa Football Coaches Clinic held in Ames during the summer due to "prior committments." Rhoads, McCarney, Ferentz, and Farley never miss. They understand the importance of building relationships with Iowa high school coaches. Chizik didn't, nor did he care.

He didn't once give Oregon credit for a game well played.

Who did he give credit to first after the NC game? Himself and the coaches.

    He has no class.

I think it's sort of like being dumped by the hot girl. While everything wasn't great when you were together you hate to see her do well with another guy.

We're better off without him, Rhoads can win in Ames, the Chiz can't but that doesn't mean I can't still hate Chiz for the arrogant butthead he comes off as whenever he opens his mouth...

Mods, please merge this with the "your ONE post game interview question for GC?" thread. It's going to turn out to be the exact same thing anyway...

Re: Reasons to hate on Gene Chizik

I thank Auburn every day for assisting us in upgrading to a better coach.

Who wouldn't win at a program that cheats and pays players?

It takes the real deal to get it done at ISU, and that is exactly what we have now at ISU. Just let it go and enjoy the ride because PR is going to take ISU to places we haven't been before.

Why would anyone possibly care what Giggles has to say about it? Stop listening.

Re: Reasons to hate on Gene Chizik

My theory is that the people at Auburn advised him to take a head coaching job for 1-3 years in order to get some "experience", so when they finally fired Tubberville, they wouldn't look bad hiring a guy with no "experience". Plus it looks better then making him the tainted interim coach before they hire him for head coach had he stayed.

    For this, I hate him.

Re: Reasons to hate on Gene Chizik

I do not hate Gene Chizik for leaving Iowa State for Auburn. I do dislike him for being disingenuous about Cam Newton. Do you think Gene Chizik thinks that Cam Newton did not know that his father solicited $180,000 from Mississippi State? Auburn and the entire SEC is filthy dirty and then Gene Chizik has the audacity to play the God card last night. Gene – do you think God would approve of Auburn football, Cam Newton, or the SEC? These are the reasons I dislike (not hate) Gene Chizik.

I have no hate towards Chizik at all... I didn't like the hire of Bolt but did like and still like the hire of McFarland.

Agree. Also agree that Hate is such a big word, I change mine to dislike as well.

Re: Reasons to hate on Gene Chizik

At ISU, Chizik hired an incompetent defensive coordinator (a "yes man") that he could control. Chiz realized after two years he couldn't run the defense and be head coach. By then it was too late and he was gone. People forget he had demoted both coordinators and was in the process of interviewing for new coordinators when he was hired by Auburn. I dislike him for wasting two years on the hiring of his buddies that weren't ready to be D-I Coordinators.

I agree with all of this, and yet our athletic director offered Chizik a contract extension in appreciation of a job well done...

No...as an understanding of a work still in progress.

Plus as a gesture that his head wasn't on the chopping block for recruiting purposes.

You aren't that blind are you?

I don't like Gene, but I know why JP did what he did.

No. This is a situation where the hot girl got pretty ugly as time went on and when she kicked our dog on the way out the door, I was pretty happy to see her go. I am not bitter because he is someplace else at all. Glad I don't have to deal with the *****.

Glad we broke up, we have a better coach than Chiz can dream of being, and am really going to enjoy it when they take away the trophy.
