Everyone in the NFL is very much aware of this. If there is no new CBA in the NFL by midnight of March 5th, everything is officially "locked out."
I know they're aware of the lockout date, but I don't know that everyone knows that there will not be free agency in February, and no trades will be allowed. Stuff like the Broncos announcing that they want a 2nd round pick for Orton, Kevin Kolb asking to be traded, and Nnamdi Asomogha expressing desire to play with Revis suggests that everyone might not be aware of these rammifications of no CBA.
You would think that it would be something that would be known to everyone, but look at last year when the CBA situation changed the number of years required to be a UFA. Lots of players were caught off guard and were angry about it.
Same way with the changes to free agency signing for the final 4 teams in the playoffs. that caught teams by surprise as well.
We're talking fine print provisions, here. I guarantee it has taken some folks by surprise.
"What a horrible night to have a curse."
"Please bury me with all my stuff, because you know it's mine..."
"Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood."
