    Football Newspapers

    Hey guys,

So trying to be the good girlfriend of an iowa state fan that I am I am trying to find the perfect V-Day present for him.

What I really want is an old newspaper article about iowa state football... New York Times makes compilation newspapers of re-prints of a whole bunch of sports related articles that are only $15, but of course I could only find Iowa Hawkeyes one, but no Iowa State one...

If you have any ideas or leads let me know, i'm looking for something at a resonable price.

Go back to Johnny Majors and a bowl win.

If a library will let you make a digital copy of something from microfilm, you could then try to find a print shop that has a newsprint-like paper. Print the article on that and frame it up.

I'd suggest something from the 1971 season -- the DM Register had a great pic of Majors getting carried off the field after ISU thumped OSU 54-0.

Good idea with this. If this works, try and find the DMR from Nov 15, 1992. The day after ISU upset #7 Nebraska, 1st win vs them since 1977. Front of the Big Peach has a pic from the endzone facing the field as ISU scored their only TD. Marv Seiler facing the camera with his arms up in the air signalling touchdown. Very good pic.

Go to the Chicago Tribune website and you can order reprints and get the sports page cover from the game against Northwestern where the name "Cyclones" came from.

I looked this up and for anybody that's wondering the date is Sept. 29, 1895. Pretty cool idea. Looks like you can get a framed reprint version or the pdf file.

I have that Des Moines Register "Peach" sports section, intact and in near mint condition. Wonder what that would be worth???
