My Breakdown of the Big XII

I watched most of the Missouri @ Colorado game today. Colorado out ran Missouri all game, and just outplayed them all 40 min of the game. Colorado is a team to lookout for down the road.

Baylor is not as impressive as advertised. They have a lot of athletes, but are not really meshing as a team like we are at this point in time.

Kansas is the real deal, think Sherron Collins couldn't be replaced? Think again: Josh Selby. Selby is one of the most elite freshman in the nation and is really having a great year so far. Wednesday presents a challenge, as always, but it should be a great game. Let's bring the magic back to Hilton Wednesday.

This is just my take on a few teams so far this year, the Big 12 will be tough as always, should be a great test for us this year.

Go Cyclones. The Mayor is back.

I only try to give insight on teams I have watched in depth. I don't want to talk about a topic i'm not informed on, you know? And it's no problem, I understand.

We will struggle in the conference play. end of story. I have a feeling we will nab one of the games vs. KU, KSU or Mizzou though. Lose at Colorado, unless the more than skeptical Colorado team shows up. Any big 12 team with a post presence will beat us, unless we are shooting lights out.

Our best shot at an upset is Baylor or Missouri, IMO.

Who else is glad Clemente from KSU is gone? They are a completely different team without him, and not in a good way...

Re: My Breakdown of the Big XII

This should really be a discussion about how incredibly tough it is to win on the road in the Big XII. In 4 conference games, the road team was favored in all 4 and only won twice (against the 2 worst teams).

Hilton is going to have to be a very tough place for opposing teams to come into. Those predicting individual wins and losses at this point are wasting their time.

Everyone is freaking out about the post presense, but I'm not so sure its going to kill us all the time. Texas will because they are big and athletic, but we'll be fine against just about anyone else. We might not like guarding the other teams inside, but they won't like guarding JVB and Ejim on the outside and dealing with the high screens.

Clemente absolutely lit us up at home last year and we only lost by 8 or so

And what will happen when JVB refuses to try and post up down low? Oh it probably wont happen, so we will look similar to GMAC's style and standing around the arc. Its a crap situation having to see Godfrey being the only physical mindset. JVB refuses to play physical at all. And if he has a cold streak, he is almost useless on the court. I like his ability to shoot, but having no true center thats physical and a physical forward (minus Godfrey) sucks.

Watching Texas, I see that Balbay (sp?) is back. Does that guy ever shoot? He seems to handle and pass well enough, but he always looks like a very weak point in their offense.
