Winter Vacation to Mexico (Riviera Maya)

I am thinking of booking a vacation to Riviera Maya for our extended family for Feb. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to stay, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

My family spent Thanksgiving at one of the Iberostar resorts a few years ago and we really enjoyed the experience.

We just went over Thanksgiving, but it was adults only. Pretty nice overall. Most everyone was our age (early 30's). But if its a "family trip" you may be taking rug rats, so I am little help.
But we originally were going to go through Hotwire, but our travel agent went through Hotwire and gets a discount. I LOVED the non stop, all by yourself transportation. Worth the little extra $$$ and didnt have to hassle with con artists at the airport trying to rip you off.

We also stayed at an all inclusive Iberostar Hotel in Playa del Carmen a couple years ago and enjoyed it.

We also did a day trip to Tulum (ruins) and Xel-ha (beach/water attraction) and thought that was a good time as well.

A co-worker of mine just returned from Cozumel...many guests at the all-inclusive resort came down with violent food poisoning during the stay. Have fun!

Spent a week at Aventura Spa Palace Aventura Spa Palace - Palace Resorts' Adults-Only Resort in September (dodged a hurricane ). Had a FABULOUS time. It was an adults-only all-inclusive resort. It's sister resort next door, Aventura Cove Palace, Aventura Cove Palace Riviera Maya - Palace Resorts was the family friendly resort. We will certainly try to go back.

I will second this place. My wife and I honeymooned there 3.5 years ago. Then it was all adults only. When we got there to check in they were all out of rooms that we booked so they upgraded us to a PRESIDENTIAL SUITE. It was ridiculously sweet! That was the first time anything like that has ever happened to my wife or I.... kinda felt neat to act like a high-roller for 5 days...

The only drawback to this place is that it did not have a beach. It was really rocky around that area. The resort did build coves that you could snorkel in and kayak around.

Akumal is nice, about an hour south of Cancun. Great snorkeling, lots of small cafes, laid back. Casitas are best, also hotel.
