Basketball Recruiting: Three to watch for 2012

Here's a little refresher for the 2012 MBB recruiting class. I hit on these prospects like three months ago and of course there are others. But I think that ISU will at the very least be in the hunt for these three kids until the end.

Essentially, New York City looks to be Iowa State's new Milwaukee.

Dingle looked very impressive. Maybe it was a better produced video but I hate the highlights that just show the player dunking. Dingle looks to have a handle, plays some D and an outside shot. Hmmm at 6' 6" he's like an Ejim clone.

If we keep getting a mix of Ejim's and Godfrey's with some pure shooters....watch out!!!

It'd be nice to get another guy over 6'7" at some point in time.

I really like to see a couple shooters and a banger in the 2012 class.

That's what I was thinking too. We already have 2 very good guys in that size range with Ejim and Cook who will be on board starting next year. Don't know if Freddy is thinking ahead on this one, though. Is Ejim good enough to go Pro after his Soph or Junior year? Does he think Cook won't show up? If so, then we need a backup plan. If not, I would think a true post might be a more of a need.

Re: Basketball Recruiting: Three to watch for 2012

I haven't seen them all play, but my impression is Ejim is a SF who can and is playing PF, where cook is a SF who can slide out to the Swing Guard. I think those versatile pieces (versus the 6'3"-4" players) provide lots of line-up flexibility. I too want some real bangers, but I am old enough to remember the promise in the 88-89 season of having Mark Baugh and Sam Mack on the same team (at least pre academic and legal problems) with that flexible size. I remember thinking what an awesome pressing team we were going to be the next year...before that bottom fell out from under that team.

we dont need 6'10 to 7' guys to be successful down low. If you have guys in the build of booker, white, godfrey, etc who are only 6'7 but strong and athletic, they work very well in college. dejuan blair types can dominate in college. also you arent going to find a whole lot of 7 footers who move well enough to play in our system

this. i don't think i even want a 7' guy. i love what godfrey gives this team-and he is only going to get better. agree 100% about having 3 guys like that in the lineup will be more then enough muscle down low for the system we run. if railey improves/keeps his nose clean, i think he will be another serviceable big. mcknight who knows?
