I'm going to go ahead and assume alcohol wasn't involved, because if it was that is not enough.

I dont know. I hope it wasnt involve because if it wasnt then what would be his suspension? Maybe they have a curfew?? I think its unfair to suspend him if it wasnt involved.

Or Alcohol could have been involved, but he was well below the legal limit. And yes, I know he was under 21.

"Our administrative staff has gathered information related to his automobile accident over the weekend and also met personally with Jordan," Pollard said. "As part of our department's discipline policy, we determined a two game suspension, including our Big 12 opener, is appropriate for his actions. Our department takes these type of matters seriously and we feel this is the proper penalty. "

Re: Railey gets 2 game suspension

Curfew would be my guess if there was no alcohol. Iowa does have zero tolerance laws. So any alcohol detected in his blood test would result in him getting a DUI. 2 games for DUI is nowhere near where I would expect the suspension to be.

    Hopefully is is just curfew.

Hell.... he couldve had no alcohol in his system and still gotten in that accident. Being 3am, lack of sleep\tiredness can have more effect than alcohol. Even if he did have some alcohol in his system, doesnt mean that caused the wreck..

Football would typically get a 1 game suspension for first time DUI, which equates to 2-3 games for basketball. I think both are fair.

    The culmination of his punishment.

Seriously, I doubt the KU game had anything to do with it. Kind of like hiding under your desk during the Cold War.

Re: Railey gets 2 game suspension

My assumption is, since he was taken to the hospital via Ambulance, that he was not given a breath test. He was probably given a blood test, and if so, dont expect the results back anytime soon. It took over 7 months for blood tests to come back for someone I knew who had a similar accident with similar circumstances about a year ago...

Yeah but the person you know didn't play sparingly for an athletic team picked last in their conference.

Glad he will be back for the KU game, we will need him because it is going to be a high tempo game and we need all the bodies we can get.

I'm glad JP and Fred didn't overreact. He made a mistake, he's being punished for it and we all move on.

That is true. I guess I figured that would convert to 3-4 games. Still, I think 3 games would have been better.
