    Barry Bonds

Did anyone notice how he never really acknowleged his son waiting for him at the plate after he hit his homerun? Watch the replay, it almost looks bad...also, is it me or does the front page of NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA, Fantasy Sports and more: CBS SportsLine.com have a asterisk by 756?

    Re: Barry Bonds

Nice job outta CBS Sportsline for putting the * on their image. Seriously.

What a great, yet empty moment for baseball. Any other player and this would be celebrated by everyone, even the opposing team and their fans would be ecstatic. I know some of these players are congratulating him - but how much of it is sincere vs. being done for the sport? Do ya think Hank is honestly happy for Barry? None of us will every know, I 'spose.

I didn't even know Barry broke the record* until I got into work this morning.

Barry, I do have one request. Now that you've broken the record* and had your "in your face" moment...

Don't go away mad. Just, go away...

yeah, i noticed that too. seemed like his kid had to force the hug on him and he just walked right past him. it's probably nothing though, from the looks of it, he has a pretty good relationship with his kids.

how about the classy move by hank aaron with the video message?

Yeah when Bonds hit 755 he gave his boy a huge hug at home plate so I wouldn't read much into it.

The QC-Times also has a big 756* on the front page of their sports. They don't have it online from what I can see, though.

I don't quite know how to feel about this. Say what you want about Bonds, but the fact is he's the all-time home run king.

The guy's a pr!ck and he clearly juiced, but at the end of the day, he's hit more home runs than any other player in MLB history. So we might as well just get used to it.

It's an amazing accomplishment regardless of what some people want to believe.

I have extreme mixed feelings about it, although I think that would make me in the minority. I find myself kind of feeling for him because of all the crap he has to put up with, although I realize that he's brought a lot of it on himself. I especially feel for his kids. I don't know how I'd react when I was that young if my father was getting hate mail, booed every where but home, and was legitimately hated nationally.

Here's another interesting heading I came across. Notice the 756 is constructed with syringes.

This sets a perfect example for other athletes and young people.

If you cheat, as long as you cheat well enough, no one will touch you.

    Nice...

Sorry, but I'm not going to "just get used to it".

I love the hypocrisy in baseball. Pete Rose still "shunned" (insert photo of Dwight Schrute shunning a co-worker) and Barry is still slammin' home runs.

No betting on baseball was the rule in MLB when Pete Rose did it. There was no rule against steroids when Bonds allegedly began dabbling, and he did it in response to the monster years of McGwire and Sosa in 1998.

And I wouldn't say Pete Rose is the only one who has been shunned in baseball. There's a reason Mark McGwire isn't in the Hall of Fame, and it certainly isn't his on field performance or statistics.

    Re: Barry Bonds

do you still celebrate those in the Hall of Fame such as Babe Ruth and Gaylord Perry? Neither of these guys are good roll models either. Babe Ruth was one of the biggest drunk womanizer's ever. Gaylord Perry is an admitted cheater to the game of baseball. Both guys are in the Hall and both are celebrated by almost everyone. Now don't get me wrong I don't feel Barry is a good roll model but I don't feel as though we should be hanging the guy when we celebrate others from the game that have done arguably much worse things than he has. I really don't care about Barry but he his the new homerun champ and a very good baseball player.
