    Humble NIU Fans

I was doing some searching for what the NIU fan base thought of Jake Anderson playing last night and stumbled upon their message board. Sounds like they're not too happy with their coach and generally liked Jake Anderson and miss him quite a bit.

You don't often see a team not blame ref's poor calls, lack of calls in a loss, I know I see a lot of it here. Anyways take a look they're some pretty interesting reads.

Topic on Jake: Jake Anderson...who needed him.
Topic on the game last night: NIU@ISU ISU @ NIU

What would really irk me as an NIU fan is the coaching strategy at the end of last night's game. After a hard fought close game it just seemed like they gave up. With around 2 minutes to go they didn't try to play pressure defense or foul or anything.

Noticed that as well. I expected them to send us to the line at least once, but they never did. They conceded a little early.

That board reminds me a lot of last year here at CF.

    Such as this gem:

NIU hanging in there and keeping it close. I have seen this video before though, I fear an eight point run with 6 minutes to go by ISU for yet another woulda, shoulda game result.
Just switch ISU and NIU and this is last year on CF.

Wow, you are exactly right. Substitute a few names (school, coaches, players) and it could be lifted right out of some of our threads.

This... Sounds an awful lot like us talking about McD, WJ and Syracuse last year.

They were in basically the same situation as Creighton against us this year and CU managed to get one buzzer-beater* away from taking us to overtime. You'd think maybe the coach would at least glance at our team's FT% before the game.

That said, it sure made the end of the game a lot less stressful for me.

    Re: Humble NIU Fans

What did they expect when they hired Ricardo Patton? Just look at what he did to the Colorado program and how they had Carver-Hawkeye like attendance his last few years there. He's an odd coach and seems like his ego gets the best of him sometimes.

I don't like the guy for the simple reason that he basically let the Harrison boys do what they wanted against ISU. We had the Homan and the famous LE "Homan came after him like someone just stole his best cow" quote incident then David got the treatment from our student section the year after LE was fired and kept talking about our "drunk coach" in the post game interviews. A coach shouldn't let his players act that unsportsmanlike so says a lot about what kind of man he is. And the incident of him basically running Jake off the team is baffling too since Jake seems like the type of guy you want on your team: good work ethic and a good locker room guy.

This one made me giggle a bit:

    "RE: NIU@ISU ISU @ NIU
Well even though its an L , marks this day on your calendar boys, the Dawgs are starting to play as a team. We could still do some damage in the MAC, one hell of an effort tonight against a Big 12 powerhouse on the ROAD. Can't imagine a better scenario headed into our MAC opener."

It's just fun to hear another school refer to us as Big 12 Powerhouse....I love it

Except that it was stated by the person others on their forum refer to as an idiot, even before he posts anything!
