Former Cyclone Barry Hill has Died
Hill, who lettered from 1972-74, is the Cyclones' all-time leader for interceptions in a career (21) and a single-season (9) interception leader. Hill was inducted into the ISU Letterwinners Hall of Fame in 2006.“He was part of a recruiting class that included Keith Krepfle, Lawrence Hunt, Ike Harris and Jerry Moses,” said former Iowa State head coach (1968-72) Johnny Majors in a statement. “He was a terrific player to coach and was a very talented athlete.”
Hill’s 21 career interceptions was the Big Eight’s career interception record. He tallied 157 tackles and two fumble recoveries in his three-year career.
Hill is the only Cyclone to ever play in four postseason classics. After his senior year, he played in the Blue-Gray Bowl, the Lions’ Club All-American Bowl, the All-American Game and the East-West Shrine Game.
