New basketball walk-on (TE Drew Mitchell) information

I've now heard this from three places.

It is being rumored that Andrew Mitchell from the football team is going to suit up tonight for the basketball squad.

Andrew Mitchell - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports

Here is a post from Ben Lamaak's Twitter feed. I believe that the two are roommates.

The newest member of the Iowa State Basketball team @DejaDrew80

    Re: New basketball walk-on information

And his profile says on Cyclones.com says
    At Iowa State
Joined the basketball team as a walk-on on Jan. 3...was a three-year member of the football team at tight end...played in all 12 games for the Cyclones as a member of the special teams unit on kickoff returns in 2010.
So my guess is that this is 100% accurate!

    Re: New basketball walk-on information

Well, at least it's a guy we know will be a decent athlete and know how to be part of the team.

How good he is as a basketball player... I guess we find out tonight. Averaging 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds at JuCo isn't encouraging though.

    Re: New basketball walk-on information

Nice to see we have another body available, but based on his bio for the football team which also mentions his basketball experience, it does not appear that he will be a scorer at all. Does anyone think he will be able to provide any sort of meaningful contribution during games?

    Re: New basketball walk-on information

Warm bodies are good for this team. We could use a few more on the back end...

He'll be a banger. At 6'2" 243 he won't be getting pushed around out there.

    Re: New basketball walk-on information

Is this a way to sneak Royce on the court? Look its "Andrew Mitchell" We should probably switch his height to 6'8 in the roster so it works better.

Why not have Sedrick Johnson play too? He might contribute there more than football.

6'2", 243? What position is this guy? Do we really need more practice bodies or what?

Probably not a bad guess.. he might have been brought in to be our enforcer during Big XII play...

Looks like he has a Big 12 body. He can take some charges and maybe dunk one or two. Think a smaller O'Rear.
