FTR, TCU would be out of the top 10 if you include texas, at 25.1 mil (not included bc its a list of bowl teams)

    You nailed it.

They also have some high dollar donors.

They still apparently spend more than Penn State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia Tech, etc. That's unbelievable, if these figures are correct.

This just shows that ISU should put all it's $$$ into football first - if you spend the money even a school with less than 10k students can have a great football program.

I wanted to throw my remote through the tv, every time Erin Andrews and Chris Fowler asked about TCU being "The Little Guy"; They've won 44 games in the last 4 years, apparently spend more money than all but 10 teams, and have a crap load of talent. They are going to demolish the Big East for a long time in my opinion and haven't been the little guy for quite some time.

All the money in the world does not solve the issue of sustaining.

We need a coach that will win the big games when presented.

ISU has not had that since the 70's....hope CPR will be that.

Re: TCU in top 10 of college football spenders

TCU has very high travel expenses just because they are so out of place in the MWC and Big East.

They may actually travel less in the Big East than they did in the MWC. Seems odd, but look at a map and it's true.

About the only teams that has worse travel distances might be Hawaii and Louisiana Tech who is horribly out of place in the WAC.

Big East won't change that a lot, but it'll pump money in some other ways.

Am I the only one who wants to add TCU to the conference? Just wondering

Yep, they wouldn't add enough to the conference $$-wise.

Re: TCU in top 10 of college football spenders

Without reading too deep into the figures... what is defined as 'football spending'? Are we just talking annual expenditures on the budget (travel, equipment, coaching etc?). Seems like some things like athletic department facilities that football uses might not be included, and might explain why some big names arent in there.

Maybe if ISU had put the money to football in the 70s maybe we wouldn't have lost the two good head coaches we lost to Pitt and tOSU or maybe we could have hired a proven head coach to replace Bruce rather than the first of many head coaching mistakes.

    No I do too.
BTW, ISU spent $13,368,441 on football for the fiscal year ending 6/30/10.
