    MY RANT - THE CROWD

BF said in the post-game interview that he hasn't voted for us in the top 25 yet because he doesn't think we deserve it. But, it seems he thinks we can become worthy - I agree. I missed the end of Fennelly's interview - did he thank the fans?

My rant for tonight was the crowd. ISU WBB is a perennial power - ranked more often than not - a frequent incumbent of the sweet sixteen. We pride ourselves on our history, our fans and Hilton Magic. Sad to say there were a fair number of fans, but, no magic tonight. In the closing minutes, a ranked team had a single digit lead and I've heard more noise at a high school jv game. There was a roar when we managed a score, but, that's not when the team needs it. What happened to the standing crowd creating such a deafening roar that the opponent would get flustered and misfire on offense? I though maybe the guest band didn't know the fight song until they played it in the last couple of minutes. The cheer leaders didn't lead cheers - how hard is CYCLONE - POWER, something/anything to get the crowd up and into the game. This game was harder because it had a neutral court feel.

We need to find an answer to this malaise in the stands. Do we need the ISU band? Does Jeffers have to lead cheers at a pre-game reception? Do the cheer leaders need a pep talk?

    No band. No students. Voila.

(not that there are a ton of students who go since there are about 25 of us, but 25>0)

We were playing Prairie View A & M, I'm sure most in the crowd don't even know where in the hell that is.

"Magic" hasn't been necessary for the women's team since about 2000.

When the team was an up-and-comer, the fans were important to help will them to a victory. Now, the team is in the Top 25 most of the time and are expected to win. Big difference.

Even the mighty UConn, during its streak, saw attendance drop 10-15%.

    Three loudest cheers tonight:

    1. When the cheerleaders threw out shirts during a timeout
    2. When the men's final was announced
    3. When Bolte hit the jumper to make it 53-50

If we scheduled some better teams in Hilton for the non-conference season, fans would be more excited. Now we play cupcakes in order to get momentum for the Big 12, and to collect wins for the NCAA tournament committee. Our fans are tremendous.

The schedule hasn't changed a whole lot in 15 years. 1-2 solid out-of-state teams, the 3 in-state teams, a couple of mid-majors, and several slaps.

Yep, those guys that cheer for "Holly" Christofferson are the greatest.

Women's crowds have sucked this year. I'm pretty disappointed. Heck, I even tried giving away good free tickets to the game and got no response and about 60 some views:

    Pretty pathetic

Re: MY RANT - THE CROWD

ISU played terrible---they couldn't string together any possessions on offense and turned the ball over 22 times

Prairie View A&M took the crowd out of the game. How many times did they hold the ball in the backcourt until 10 seconds were left on the shot clock before starting their offense?

What were you doing to get the crowd going?

Hilton Magic doesn't just happen, it is created by a whole bunch of individuals. If you were doing everything you could to get it started and nobody was buying you've got every reason to complain, but if you were half-***ed clapping and fuming about the lame crowd, band, cheerleaders, ball boys, ushers and janitors then you are also the problem.

    Just saying...

"Just saying . . ." Isn't that what Glenn Beck says when he's just guessing. If you put me in that second group, you guess wrong. Maybe someone needs a gold sports coat and a megaphone.

Which is pretty much all the time.

My post wasn't intended like that. I do not mean to offend. I am not putting you in either group. As I said, if you were trying and nobody was buying, then you have every reason to be ******. Trust me, I've been there too.

Re: MY RANT - THE CROWD

It hurts when the students are not back so we do not have our regular cheerleaders and have half of a group or the ones who do the mens game who donot seem to care if they cheer at all. We sit near them and for all they did last night they should hsve stayed home.
