I wonder if this signals the beginning of the end of his career at Michigan. He's too talented to play backup for the next two years.

Tornado Man, can I ask what you have against Michigan. It's a serious question.

Also, this is kind of shocking considering what he has said. He has made it a point to say that he has been doing well in school. He was going to be ineligible this fall, but he got everything together over the summer and made it. Now he does this. The whole problem with this is another school may not accept him because of it but by the looks of this, it was a UM deal and they have a higher standard than a lot of school. I think this signals he will be gone. There have been rumblings that Montana was going to land a big name transfer from the midwest. That could be him.

Can't Forcier just say his teachers didn't tell him what was on the test or that they didn't tell him when the final was. Or maybe Michigan could just not tell him his grades so he doesn't know. There are millions of ways to get around this now, no excuse for any star player to ever miss a game now.

That's with the NCAA. This is the University of Michigan. Historically, they don't give in very easy when it comes to academics.

Posting factual info. about an ineligible player means I have something against Michigan? WTF?
On the contrary, I think Michigan is a great school, with a storied football tradition. Of course, RichRod is doing a fine job in destroying that, but you have said all fall he will survive, and will get it going and win the Big 10 by 2012. That was your prediction, yaman. Let's see if it turns out to be true.
BTW, I'm calling BS about your claim that Michigan has "higher standards than a lot of schools." For general students, yes, they're highly selective. Michigan is a great academic school. But the bar is much lower for athletes, and you know it. They are no more selective than ISU, Iowa, Missouri, etc., etc., etc. Lots of their football players can barely talk.

Umm no they dont.(athletic wise). And I dont care if you come back with some random stat saying otherwise. I dont buy it and neither does the Florida football team.

I'm not sure I said he would survive. I thought I said I think he should survive. I still think he should but right now I don't think he will. It depends on if Harbaugh wants San Fran or Michigan.

I was wrong on the academic front in this instance. In terms of being eligible, it looks like they are the same as everyone else. In terms of admittance, I believe it is different. They still admit some of the lesser intelligence, but from what I understand it is in lower numbers. A team like Cincinnati, for instance, will admit any player who gets by the Clearinghouse. Michigan and teams like Stanford typically have a number of slots they can fill with lesser student who meet Clearinghouse requirements. The whole class cannot be that way though. They must have, I believe, some that meet a slightly higher requirement and a few who meet the standard Michigan requirement. Case in point:Adrian Witty. Made clearinghouse, then was denied by Michigan because he did not meet their standard and evidently they had allotted all of those slots. He then went to Cincinnati and is now a starter there.

The above is a paraphrased answer from someone who worked for a University that "allotted" athletic scholarships in that fashion. I don't know that it is all true but he has no reason to just make it up.
