    Recruiting Violation Question...

So I'm not trying to start anything just wondering where the line is drawn.

I follow both Marcus Paige and Zach Johnson on twitter. Marcus was at the Iowa game tonight and they were going back and forth commenting on the game and since they lost Zach said "could have been different with you on the court." Now he's not a alum but a very outspoken and well known hawk fan, not sure if he donates or not.

I guess I'm just curious if this is a violation or if it would be a violation if he was an alum/booster.

If he has ever baught a ticket for a game it could be a minor violation.

Wanderer...my thoughts exactly. I guess he may not have met him in person but I guess if I were Marcus I would still be impressed that a professional athlete who is a well known supporter of said school would be tweeting me.

I'm not trying to make this a rival issue just curious about it. Same thing could happen at ISU.

Oh and ZJ has been trying to get Kurt Warner (one of the best tweeters ever imo, hilarious most of the time) to admit he is a hawk fan...

    Re: Recruiting Violation Question...

My first thought is who in the heck is Zach Johnson, and why would a top recruit care what he thinks.

So they are having some chump golfer and B-list actor who never went to SUI talk to recruits?
Wow, Fran, is it this bad? Maybe Tom Arnold can teach you how to be an even bigger joke.

    Re: Recruiting Violation Question...

As long as he doesn't buy any tickets, that's clean. If he does, well, then it's not but it's not a huge deal. Honestly I am not sure on the insides and outs of that rule. What if one of my brothers friends is being recruited? Can I then not talk to them. It seems like that would have to be a gray area. One things for sure, I cannot, under any circumstances attempt to contact a recruit and neither can you, so don't do it or I will send the compliance linebacker.

I think you situation is probably a violation.

But I have to comment on Kurt Warner. I always thought he was kind of a humorless bible thumper with a crazy wife (not that there is anythign wrong with that) but he was pretty funny when he was on Dancing with the Stars last year. Much better sense of humor than I would have given him credit for.

A chump golfer. That's funny. Dude won the Masters. That's not a chump. I don't like him but he's pretty solid in terms of the game.

    Re: Recruiting Violation Question...

He did get reconized or something by the University a few years ago. I would say with that he is an Iowa supporter.

Didnt Zack treat some ISU fans bad at a golf outing a few years ago?
