I knew alot of hawk fans were dumb

I was looking around hawkeyenation forum the other night and came across a thread titled "Micheal Vick is a Hero". The funny thing was that about 80% of the posts agreed.

I wouldn't call him a hero. I would say his story is rather incredible, particularly the part where he has been minding his business and pretty much owning the opposition.

It's all snark from here on out

Depends how you define hero. Did he make some bad choices? Absolutely. Did he repay his debt to society? Yep. Has he come back and been a great model on and off the field? Yep. Hero might not be the word, but he's not Hitler.

I can see him being a protagonist, for sure.

Vick owes everything to Kolbs injury. Don't get me wrong Vick has earned his playing time and his playing lights out but no one calls a back up a hero, regardless of the strides in his personal life. It just goes to show what a short memory this country has and how they'll forget about anything if theres success.

No,he's not Hitler. Is he a great role model on and off the field? Depends on your own morals. Would I want my kids looking up to a guy who used to hang dogs to death. Electrocute dogs to death. Drown dogs to death personally and enjoy it. I do'nt think so. You think some time in the clink changed his mind. Not me.

Being a great football player doesn't make you a great person. Paying your debt to society doesn't make you a great person either. Just because he has kept his nose clean for two years doesn't mean he is a saint. No kid of mine will ever wear a jersey of someone like Vick.

The funny thing is that he's complaining that he can't own a dog now.

so nothing that happens in practice counts towards playing time at all right? If you thought at any point in the season that kolb was going to be the starter all year you must be one of jerry's kids

Who gives a ****. This guy is a dispicable *****. Born and raised. So is his brother, look it up. I would like to stick his head under water till he had about 2 seconds left and see if that changed his perspective.

A lot of people in this thread would probably break a bone or two if they happened to fall off of their high horse. Sure Vick has made some bad choices in his life, haven't we all? He paid his debt to society, appears to have learned his lesson, and now is doing what he can to be a better person and is having a great year on the gridiron to boot. A hero? perhaps not. A guy trying to do his best in his current situation? Sure is. I can stand behind that. Oh, not to mention the President just personally commended Vick and the Eagles organization.

The honor of my race, family and self is at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will. My whole body and soul are to be thrown recklessly about the field. Every time the ball is snapped, I will be trying to do more than my part... Fight low, with your eyes open and toward the play. Watch out for crossbucks and reverse end runs. Be on your toes every minute if you expect to make good. - Jack Trice
