ISU players "winning" DMR bracket so far...

Keeler THE BRACKET | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register

I've been voting in this. I'm a little surprised at Fizer's early lead in this round.

I expect Grayer to win this thing, for what it's worth.

Josh Young gets 35% of the vote over Tinsley??? Are people on crack? I'm all for supporting your own in voting contests like this, but sometimes you just have to be realistic.

I'm guessing that was due to the "youth vote." Like, voters under age 11.

Total disclosure here, Ronnie Lester should win this. He took a team to the Final 4 and if he hadn't been hurt they would have probably won it.

That being said, I voted for Fizer and see he has an unbelievable lead of 143 to 11

You are nuts. This is not voting for team accomplishments- even if it was, Grayer has an Olympic bronze medal, and Fizer was a few minutes short of the Final Four.

Fizer and Grayer were better players.

totally forgot about this as I normally avoid all things register. Looks like we are going to have a Fizer - Grayer final. Cyclone Nation is going to be divided.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lester get it over Fizer, or at least see it close. I think Fizer gets an edge as a better player, although possibly not by much. And if you look at their impact on each of those teams' accomplishments, it could be comparable.

Here's a question who had a better supporting cast? My memory is iffy on that Final Four Iowa team without looking it up (I think I recall the '81 & '82 Iowa rosters better).

I would choose Grayer over either of them. I'm obviously biased comparing him to Lester. He was better than Fizer career-wise (although if Fizer had stayed, that could have made a big difference in that respect).

Not to be a smartass here... Grayer has a Bronze metal not a gold.

Fizer and Grayer were great players, but 83Clone has it right. Ronnie Lester was a tremendous player. His knee injury stopped him from being an NBA great. Actually, Lewis Lloyd was a hell of a player as well.

Give me a team of Lester, Grayer, Lloyd, Fizer and Tinsley and I bet they could win the NCAAs

    Lester is overvalued.

Too young to have seen Lester play, so I can't speak for his game, but I don't think any player of the Big 4 has had such a dominant season as Fizer did his JR year. Led the country in FG and points, won Big 12 regular season and tourney titles, Elite Eight appearance (should have been Final Four), final team ranking of #3, consensus first-team AA, and runner-up for POY to some guy named Kenyon Martin.
