    Tiger loses Gillette sponsorship

My question is why now? Why after keeping him on through everything to cut him now? Guess it's not my decision, but timing seems pretty off if you ask me...

They may be looking at younger golfers to sponsor or maybe Warren said to drop him.

Seems like a perfect match: He's had a number of close shaves recently.

Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid was a great way to go through college (all five years of it).

I beleive they dropped their whole 'champions' campaign. Probably because they all started sucking (Henry, Jeter, Woods, Federer)

    Re: Tiger loses Gillette sponsorship

It doesn't matter if he loses Gillette. Tiger good live off of the Nike endorsement..and he could live well off of it. So as long as he has that he'll be fine.

He'll be back next year anyway. I wouldn't be suprised to see him win 1 or 2 majors and he'll slowly start to pick up more endorsements as he starts winning again next year.

Easy money if you really believe that. Bookies will give you 7:1 odds on that bet. I think I'll side with the favorite and take "zero" major wins (-150). The bookies must know something more than I because they have much nicer accommodations.

I ask the same questions. I realize he is a risk but you are looking at a guy who could potential, next season, create a big story in making a comeback. Why now?

The favorites zero? Interesting, I would bet that every day.

    Re: Tiger loses Gillette sponsorship

I can see betting against the guy to not win a major this year. This year was a major down year for him and you could tell he just didn't have "it". He didn't have time to practice (even said he wasn't practicing as much as normal) and you could tell his head just wasn't in the game. But after watching that last tournament (even though he didn't win it in the end) it was very impressive. He put three very solid rounds in and one mediocre round. I think his head will be back in it and his swing will be back. I think it's kind of hard to bet against him to win at least one major.

Sounds like the answer is in the title of that article- the contract was up, and they decided not to renew. I actually respect their decision to keep him on for the duration of the contract. It seems as though most companies will bend to media pressure and dump someone the second any heat is applied.

Sure, he MIGHT dominate again but I doubt it. Right now, he's just another guy.
