    Carper done for 2007

'tiny little text etched into her neck it said "jesus lived and died for all your sins." she's got blue black ink and it's scratched into her lower back. it said: "damn right i'll rise again." yeah, damn right you'll rise again.'

That sucks. Carper would have helped to stabilize the defensive backfield. Plus, he's the guy I use in NCAA 08. He runs fine there! Hopefully he can get it sorted out and get back on field, or at least back to normal.

that's a blow that they didn't need. the defense is thin enough already...hopefully he can bounce back for next year.

I just dont understand either, everyone is healthy in the game.

Didn't this happen last year? For a second, I thought I was seeing an old thread revived from a year ago.

Does he still have a redshirt available?

Already redshirted, so he would have to petition for the "Jess Settles" 20 year medical waiver.

What he did to his knee is very hard to come back from. It sucks, yet I'm not surprised at all. Hopefully we'll see him back on the field in '08.

If his Knee hasn't responded by now, I would think that there might be chance it will never recover. Its to bad because Carper was one of my favorite players.

    Re: Carper done for 2007

When a person suffers a knee injury, the knee is never the same. It can be close, but knees are a very funky thing.

With Carper, he did the "unhappy triad", ACL, MCL and meniscus - one of the worst knee injuries a person can do. Some guys can come back somewhat quicky from that (Carson Palmer) and others struggle (Carper, myself, etc). Then there's Culpepper, who completely tore his up and is struggling even more.

While it is possible this could end his career, I think it's too early to think like that. I'll bet he's at at least one or two procedures on his knee in addition to the first big surgery. While those are helpful, they do slow a person's progress down. And, a big thing those surgeries slow down is strength training. The quad and calf disappear rather quickly when immobilized.

    Re: Carper done for 2007

Great post 22. The knee arguably takes the most abuse of any joint in the body. Even regular jogging can take a toll on a healthy knee, much less one that has gone through the repairs that his has. Not only that, but Adam's knee has to be able to withstand the cuts and stops that are essential as a linebacker. As you mentioned, Culpepper has been struggling in getting back to form from a similar injury and he has all the time and money in the world at his disposal in rehabbing.

Hope Adam does qualify for the Jess Settles exception. We need sound tacklers like him on our defense and he was a good one.

    Re: Carper done for 2007

The article states how hard Carper has worked to rehabilitate the knee and it has not come around. At an open practice in the Bergstrom building last spring a buddy and I watched Adam by himself in the north endzone working, stretching, rolling on a medicine ball for the entire 2 hour practice without a coach making him do it. Others were injured and hap hazardly went about their rehab but Adam was vigorous about his work out. His dad is a coach and Adam is a stud that could have been our coach on the field.

For Adam to be able to walk without a limp is what I am hoping for.

I thought when this happened they were not optimistic that he would be ready for this year. If I remember McCarney said something to the like of a potential career ender.

I saw the same thing, splendid - when I was up there for the coach's clinic. I'll bet Adam has the strongest core of anyone on the team.

Rather than hoping for a Settles exemption, I hope he makes a choice that takes into account his ability to walk for the rest of his life. That is certainly more important than even ISU football.
