Why is Mike McCarthy still HC of Pack?

Why is bubble headed Mike McCarthy still the coach on this team? His clock management skills are the worst! His play challenges are *** backwards! He challenges ones he shouldnt & he doesnt challenge the ones he should! He & he alone has cost Packers many if not all the close games they have lost in the past 4 seasons!

Is that really true? I'm not a Packer fan, and I'll admit I don't watch too many of their games, but he's always struck me as a pretty decent head coach. What examples do you have of his mismanagement? Perhaps, I just don't have enough info.

Re: Why is Mike McCarthy still HC of Pack?

Wow, I thought he had a brilliant game plan against the Pats. The fact that they were in the game at the end when N.E. was a 2 TD favorite speaks volumes. The on side kick at the get go set the tone for the game. To go against Bill B. at his house with a non-name QB and be that close was great coaching in my book. Not really a Packers fan, but put a lot of credits on the Pats and was worried til the end.
The only mistake he made was not having his young QB schooled for the last play.

This year has been disappointing, but that's what happens when injuries harm your team. When healthy, the players McCarthy has are a very dangerous team. I was expecting a blowout on Sunday, but we still played well even without our star QB. And hey, beat the Giants next week, we're still in the playoff picture, even with all the injuries. Most teams would've crashed and burned earlier in the season with the amount of injuries we've had

The real question is, is how is there 3 people in this thread that are fans of the Packers and Suns?

How many injuries has he had to deal with this year? If he pulls off the NE game and gets to the playoffs he's one of the favorites for HC of the year.

Re: Why is Mike McCarthy still HC of Pack?

As a Die-hard Packer fan, I agree 10000% with the OP. McCarthy HAS to go. Every one of the Packers losses this season can be directly tied to his **** poor game management in the 4th Qtr.

Loss #1 vs. the Bears: 18 penalties, botched challenge in the last two minutes, horrible clock management lets Bears kick a fg on the last play to win.

Loss #2 vs. Redskins: Blow a 13-3 lead late in the 4th qtr, terrible time management leads to Crosby missing a 55 yard fg on the last play. Lose in OT.

Loss #3 vs. Dolphins: ( I did not see this game because I was out of the country, but they lost in OT again, go figure)

Loss #4 vs. Falcons: Fails to challenge obvious drop by Gonzales on 4th down...drive results in TD. Runs 3 QB sneaks in a row from the 1 yard line and results in 0 pts. Kickoff team allows a 50 yard runback with under a minute left to set up winning FG for Atlanta

Loss #5 vs. Lions: Train wreck from the start, offense scores 3 pts on one of the worst defense in the NFL. Fails to convert 2nd and 1 on last drive, results in turnover on downs to end game...calls deep pass to jennings on 4th and 1 on last drive.

Loss #6 to Patriots: Kickoff team allows 70 yard kick return by an offensive lineman. Has first and goal from the 1 yard line, runs three consecutive fb dives into the pile, results in FG. Atrocious clock managment on final drive with young QB leads to running out of time at the 17 yard line.

And that's just this season. McCarthy is 10-21 in games decided by a TD or less...that is awful. The Packers should be no worse than 11-3 right now even with all the injuries, he has to go.

Even as a vikes fan I think would have to say that Mike McCarthy is one of the top coaches out there right now.

Re: Why is Mike McCarthy still HC of Pack?

To expand on my last post, starters that have missed time include:
    Nick Barnett, IR
    Morgan Burnett, IR
    Brandon Chillar, IR
    Jermichael Finley, IR
    Ryan Grant, IR
    Brad Jones, IR
    Mike Neal, IR
    Brady Poppinga, IR
    Mark Tauscher, IR
    Aaron Rodgers
    Donald Driver
    Charlie Peprah
    Clay Matthews
    Frank Zombo
    James Starks

MM has done more with less this season, the way he has handled this barrage of injuries and still have the Packers at 8-6 is amazing.

By the way, Matt Flynn almost ended the Pats ridiculous home win streak the other night, because of the coaching (Mike McCarthy).

Correction, he WOULD HAVE ended the winning streak if not for Mike McCarthy and his 4th qtr game managment.

Shut up, him and Thompson have built a great team. Stop being so quick to pull the trigger on him when, as Packers fans, we have been lucky to have a great football team over the past decade.

McCarthy will get a break this year because of the injuries, but I will be mad if Shawn Slocum isn't fired.
