That's great stuff, thanks for sharing. The comments alone are comedy gold. I laughed out loud when I saw the photo of that IE window with like 20 toolbars installed.

    Awesome. My favorite:

My mom: "How do you get a Facebook?"

Me: "Well, first you need the internet..."

    Mom: "The WHOLE thing?!?"

I'm astonished when I go home for the holidays how many unsecured wireless networks are in my parents neighborhood.

I made sure to set my parents' network up pretty securely. Picked a good name (Cyclone Power) and a good security key. Oh yeah, Dad's a Hawkeye, so I know that has to irritate him a lil' bit!

My gripe is that I'm always expected to do the computer/iPod (which I do not have - Droid all the way) troubleshooting and various home-improvement projects.

Yeah, this hits the nail on the head. I'll never forget the time my Grandma was trying to do what she had written down and the first thing was click start, but the Windows start menu was already open, so she closed it instead of opening it and she was lost from there.

My parents also have hard copies of every e-mail I've ever sent them.

Re: The Worst Part of Coming Home for Christmas

I know several "older" people who print out hard copies of email, including one of my wife's co-workers who has them pinned uup all over his cube.

My Grandma in her 80's does pretty well on the computer and listens to all my cousins and my games on various radio stations, but when I was up there over Thanksgiving I had to chuckle because she has notes all over the computer desk on how to get to the various programs she uses.

As for that last part, it will never change.

Totally off-topic here, but your acronym threw me initially.

By any chance, is your MIL a MILILF?

Re: The Worst Part of Coming Home for Christmas

After trying to teach my mom how to set up christmas labels for the past 5 years I finally gave up and printed off 6 years worth so she'll be fine until 2019.

While this sounds good in theory, what happens when people move? I imagine that the number whose addresses will change is small enough that those can be done by hand, but its something else you have to remember each year.

I've heard that the prettiest lights during the Christmas season are the tail lights of your relatives' cars as they are leaving your driveway.
