Holiday Treat: Only Total Lunar Eclipse of 2010

Skywatchers in North America Will Have Front-Row Seat to Celestial Spectacle Mon. Night-Tues. Morning!

A total lunar eclipse - bathing the moon in a dark, ruddy color as it passes through the Earth's shadow - will be on display late Monday-early Tuesday.

(AP) Weather permitting, sky gazers in North and Central America and a tiny sliver of South America will boast the best seats to this year's only total eclipse of the moon just days before Christmas.

The eclipse will happen Monday night on the West Coast and during the wee hours Tuesday on the East Coast. Western Europe will only see the start of the spectacle while western Asia will catch the tail end.

Unfortunately I don't think the weather is going to cooperate tonight.

Yeah, I'm guessing I'm not going to be one of the "lucky" ones to catch this

Yeah, I was going to wake my kids up to watch it, but it's not happening tonight now.

I'm as close to Central America as one can get and still be in the US; Mission, Texas. We have perfectly clear skies tonight and a low of 65 degrees. I'll be watching for it.

I checked NASA's website and found that the full eclipse will be at 2:15 AM CST. Crap! I'll be in bed totally zonked out.

Looks like we need to merge threads. Yeah it's pretty awesome. Too tired and cold to stay up and watch the whole things though.
