Just looked at the start of our MBB conference schedule

and all I can say is OUCH!

Decent chance we start out 0-5

    at Nebbie
    KU
    Baylor
    at OSU
    at Mizzou

I know Nebbie and OSU are not that great, but those are conference road games and at best they will be 50-50 IMO.

Anything is possible (maybe we'll be 5-0 instead), but won't be shocked to see us start 0-5. Really need to win that first game at Nebbie.

I thought the same thing. I think realistically we'll win 1 (either At OSU or most likely at Neb). Best case (realistically) is 3-2. Can't go 0-fer to start the conference season if we want to get ANY post season play. Even winning against Nebbie on the road will go a long way. One game at a time boys!

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

Re: Just looked at the start of our MBB conference schedule

I can see 3 wins in that five game slate. I believe that our style of play will simply keep us in alot of those games and even give us a chance to win in a few as well. Unlike the McD style that when we got down we would still stay at a slow pace and relied on every shot to fall in order to stay in a game.....

I'm not saying 3 wins, just have a chance at winning 3.

Re: Just looked at the start of our MBB conference schedule

First game is going to be extremely important. I wish it wasn't a road game as Nebbie will be pumped for first conference game and have the homecourt advantage.

Just would hate to see a promising preseason record be all for not after a tough conference start.

Well I believe we have a "chance" in all 5. Even against KU and BU at home. J

If you just look at it from a "what are the odds" perspective, it does not bode well for us.

There's no way I see us losing ALL five. 1-4 quite possibly. I'd be satisfied with 2-3. I'd be impressed/surprised with 3-2.

Re: Just looked at the start of our MBB conference schedule

If we come out of that stretch at 1-4 or 0-5, I really hope our guys don't get too down about it, because there are still gonna be plenty of chances to do something special this big 12 season. Hoiberg and Co. should be humble, but ready to take on anybody. I know it's on the road but we should still beat Nebbie. It'd be nice to have a big following down there. Another possible "Gold Out" game?

My concern is their mental state if they come out with a poor record through the first 5 games. We really need that first one and hopefully 2 out of the first 5 otherwise a possible 6-7 win conf season will quickly go to 3-4 wins.

Remember back in 05, we started conference season 0-5, and then pulled it together and made it to the second round of the NCAA tourney. That being said, I think we win at least 2 of those games.

Started 0-5 in conference but won 7 in a row, including 4 against Top 25 teams (Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Kansas).

In regards to KU and Baylor at home, this team is built for the upset. Not say it will happen but if those threes start hitting home all I can say is watch out.

Re: Just looked at the start of our MBB conference schedule

You can say this about any 5 games stretch in the conference. We were picked to finish last so.... I think we are better than that and don't think we will lose 5 games in a row at any point.
